Katelyn (dramanerd08) | 27 comments I am not sure what level you would be when I was in school there is ways to find what your skill is equal too ( like age level). That's something you may have to research and look into.

If you find HP and PJ difficult. Trying reading books for children below 6th or 7th grade. If that is hard for you. Try more books for elementary school readers.

Also reading aloud or reading with a parent really helped me as a kid to understand what I was reading.
As a kid my mom and I read Nancy Drew together to help improve my skills and comprehension. I struggled with reading really till I got to 5th and 6th grade. I was always a little bit behind my classmates. Try to set some time out every day to read Whether its a half hour or fifteen minutes or more.

Just keep on reading you will get there! Practice makes perfect! It take time to build up your vocabulary. Don't give up! Good luck!

Maggie I agree with Katelyn, look for books that are easier for you to read. I wouldn't focus on what level they are, just find books you enjoy that aren't making frustrated. Enjoying what you are reading will make you want to read more and as you read more your reading level should get higher. It's important to make time to read everyday if you want to get better at it.
When my daughter was young and wanted to read Harry Potter and got frustrated doing it on her own we read it together aloud. In the beginning she only read 1 page to my 15 but she got better and better at it by the 4 th book she read half of it to me and finished the rest of the series on her own! Maybe someone could read the harder books with you.

I think it's great you're asking for suggestions, don't give up and GOOD LUCK :)

DB (DB's Guide to the Galaxy) (dbgalaxy) I think your reading levels differ person to person. Like Katelyn said, find books that are easier for you to read. I'm not going to brag now, but my reading level is above my fellow 16 year old peers. So, I understand when you say adult books, such as Game of Thrones are difficult for you to read, because all my friends say the same to me. Try reading Charlie Bones, by Jenny Nimmo.

Nila | 45 comments The more reading you do the better you will read, but I heard that reading out loud may improve read skills faster then reading to yourself. You could go to your local library and ask them to let you read to younger readers then yourself. Plus the librarian could help you find other books within your reading level. Keep track of all the books you have read so you can see how your reading has improved by the books you've read! Have fun reading and don't compare yourself to anyone else!!
