Ellie Eden (ellieeden) | 1 comments Great idea for a group, Kristi! And I love the photo. Strange, the heroine of my romantic suspense is called Kristi. Must mean something! Surely!! Letting Evil In by Ellie Eden Letting Evil In Letting Evil In is newly released by Etopia Press. Did you realize that your laptop is an open window? - take care who slithers into your home... Kristi's husband spent the cold NY winter in hot, steamy chat rooms with a wild young drug dealer. When he fails to return home from a trip to Rio, Kristi and her young son go in search of him. But the drug dealing Nara's relationship with a ruthless drug lord puts everyone in jeopardy. With her marriage in ruins, Kristi finds herself turning to hot federal agent, Tony. But Tony comes from a very wealthy and political corrupt family. With no one to trust, Kristi searches alone in the slums and jungles of Rio. Then her young son is kidnapped.

Wow, just reading the blurb is a trip. I wonder if I could read a whole book about someone with a name spelled just like mine. I guess there's only one way to find out.

I will put you in my TBR for sure. It sure sounds like a page-turner.

Welcome to the group!

I've been bogged down with proofing Romances. If you like romances, SJ McCoy's Summer Lake series is sweet. Not much in suspense. I did read (group member) Danielle's The Protector, which I liked.

Karen Docter | 4 comments Hello, everyone. What a wonderful, supportive group! I write in two genres, contemporary romance as Karen Docter (which has no place here, I know, but my Goodreads page is under this name :) ) and romantic suspense as K.L. Docter. I released the first book in my new Thorne's Thorns series, Killing Secrets, April 2014 and would love to find reviewers here.

Blurb:

Some secrets are better left dead.

Rachel James’ ex-husband is released from prison determined to reclaim her and her little girl — the child is his key to controlling the James fortune. Frightened, Rachel flees to Denver with the child who hasn’t uttered a word since her daddy went to prison.

Contractor Patrick Thorne wants nothing to do with another of his parents’ charity cases. He failed his own wife so abysmally she took her own life as well as his unborn son’s. After two years, it’s time to concentrate on the bid he’s won and the saboteur trying to destroy his construction firm.

There is no room for trust in either of their hearts. But trust is all that will untangle the secrets that dominate their lives, free a little girl of her silent prison, and save them all from a serial killer who stands too close.

(A Thorne's Thorns Novel, @110,000 words)

If you want to take a peek inside the book: Amazon: goo.gl/BzGZLc

I'm happy to give you a complimentary copy (Smashwords code in a variety of formats) in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful group. I'm happy to be here!

Sydney (sydneypaigemccutcheon) Hi Everyone!

I am excited to be a part of this group! My name is Sydney Paige McCutcheon and I am a writer!

My first published novel, "Henry", is a Christian Suspense.

“Backing up slowly like the doctor had done, I broke eye contact as my gaze traced the floor, noticing a small smudge from a shoe, and off we went. Away from the unspoken words that so badly needed to be said—before everything between us would explode.
And I knew it would explode. It was just a matter of timing.
Timing, and gunpowder.”

― Sydney Paige McCutcheon, Henry

Henry by Sydney Paige McCutcheon

Blurb: After witnessing her sister’s murder, Prue Collins is sent to a small town in Astoria, Oregon, and doesn't expect the cold shoulder from the man meant to protect her.

Rude and sarcastic, Ex-Officer Henry Clay wants nothing to do with his new roommate and doesn't mask any hard feelings, just secrets. His wheelchair gives Prue a glimpse of his tragic past and she can't fight curiosity as more clues come her way, opening her eyes to the true stranger she's been sent to live with—and possibly, meant to help save.

But Prue has a secret of her own—one that risks more than just her life. Can these two come together to keep her safe, or will the truth only push them further apart?

Michael McGrinder (michaelmcgrinder) | 1 comments Hi/

I am about to publish a crime-fiction novel set in Greenwich Village. I also have few stories in the genre which I will include in a short-story collection. I also write extensively outside the genre, plays, prose and poetry. I publish plays from early Off-Off-Broadway (yeah, I go back that far). And I love reading the genre. Trivia note: Many years ago, I was the day bartender at Jimmy Armstrong's Sal**n (it was illegal then call a place a saloon), and one of my customers was Lawrence Block.

Misty | 7 comments Hi, I'm Misty. I've written mystery and suspense since age 6. My mom still has my first "book", the stapled construction paper barely holding together. I had a mystery book published by a local company at age 13 but I was (am) super shy and couldn't really handle the pressure. I've always written in secret since then, only allowing those very close to me to view my work. Recently, my brother has encouraged me to share my work on Amazon. It's crazy how nerve rattling it can be for an introvert with anxiety disorders. The book is nearly completed, save the cover so if anyone wants to check it out it's called "The Nanny Song."The Nanny Song Also I'd love to read romantic or romantic suspence from other writers so feel free to suggest anything you might want a rewiew on. Thanks for having me in the group :))

Welcome, Misty! Great to have you here. I understand what you mean about taking the leap to publish. I wonder sometimes if it ever gets easier. I also am introverted, though I wouldn't say I have anxiety issues. It's just I can only stand to be around people for finite periods of time. Actually I think what I am is called an Ambivert. Or something like that. :-/

Your book looks very fascinating and complex. I love stories where two worlds collide like that. Are you giving away Advance Read Copies (ARCs)? I might be able to squeeze a read into my read list. ;-)

As far as suggestions, my series falls into the Suspense - Romantic Suspense genre. The first book is called Last Shot at Justice You can get a free copy by going to this link: https://www.instafreebie.com/free/TEGOq and downloading it. I would love it if you reviewed it. If you like it and want to read on in the series, I can see about getting you the other books as well.

(I'm in the process of rebooting the series with new covers and I've been tweaking the blurbs. Blurbs are my nemesis. LOL)

Feel free to roam around the other threads in the group. We're kind of a quiet lot, but I'd love it if you engaged in any conversation that piques your interest.

Welcome, Misty! Great to have..."

Thanks for the warm welcome! I like the sound of ambivert, by the way. Nicely balanced. :)
I also feel your pain when it comes to blurbs! I can almost write 100,000 words in a story faster than a 500 word blurb. Well, maybe not faster, but certainly easier. I don't know what it is about those things!!
I sent you a rambling private message and I definitly want to read your book(s). I'm off to explore the group and your collection of works. :))
Thanks so much!!

Amanda Linehan (amandalinehan) | 5 comments Hi, I'm Amanda and I am a writer, indie author and reader. Suspense is one of my favorite genres to write in, and read in too, of course. I'm also a big fan of Alfred Hitchcock movies.
I really like suspense because while it is a genre unto itself, it can also be present in any story regardless of genre. I just love that slow burn of not knowing what's going to happen. :)

Me too! For me, if there's no suspense in a story - in whatever form - there's not much that interests me. But I don't want to work too hard trying to figure out who the bad guys are, just what they want and/or how they're going to get it - and how that affects the heroes.

Welcome to the group!

Thanks Misty! I think The Nanny Song is a great example of a book with lots of suspense that isn't necessarily in the Suspense genre.

Thanks! I think that's also a good distinction between mysteries and suspense. I do read some mysteries, but I'm not as into the "puzzle" aspect of mysteries that some people are. With a suspense story, you may actually know the answers from the beginning and then the story unfolds as to how the characters got there. Totally satisfying for me.

Jessica Dale | 3 comments Hi, I'm Jessica Dale. I have been writing mysteries (under a different pen name) for almost ten years now and have two successful series in that genre, but recently I decided to branch out into romantic suspense. I'm about to release my first novel in that genre and I'm kind of feeling like a newbie all over again.

I'm looking for early reviewers, but I'll post about that under a different thread.
