I really do "try" to plot lol But I'm terrible at it. I tried it with my first two books, and always strayed from the outline...so I've learned to first get to know my characters, and then I let them tell me the story. With AW there was about a year of research I had to put in before I could even think about writing it, it was my first Historical, but once I filled two journals, I sat down and Star took over :) And with DF, Steampunk is just fun lol I got to pretty much create the whole world, so that was all letting the characters run with it.
Thank you for such a great question!! Hugs!

Thank you so much, Hope! It's nice to "meet" you, and I hope you enjoy them. :D

Hi, Brianna! Thank you! So glad that you enjoyed them, girl :)
Let's see...with Astarte's Wrath, I had already created the Steampunk world in Destiny's Fire, and had done the research for the Egyptian background. But I wasn't able to fit all of my research into DF. i really wanted to show that side of it. The characters came after DF, and I fell in love with them and their story. It's probably my favorite book I've written so far :)
For Of Silver and Beasts, really, I just starting writing it one day, and it took off. I didn't have a clear idea for where I wanted it to go, other than I wanted to tell a story about a girl with mercury in her blood. My characters always create the stories :) Afterward, I had to go back and do a lot of world building and editing to mold the story around Kal.

Aww thanks you, Brianna! *hugs* I'm a huge history buff, too :D And really, I was a bit scared to write AW lol I was afraid I wouldn't do that amazing setting and time period justice. But I researched for a long time, and learned so much in the process. I have so much respect for the Egyptian culture, now, even more so than before. I'm so happy that you really enjoyed it <3

Hey, Faith!! Love ya, girl! I love bloggers! Having been a blogger first and working with them for years at YA Bound, I think it's very important to keep in touch with them, and also readers. I try to always respond to email, Tweets, etc. And if I'm slammed, I still try to get back to them in a timely manner :)
Thanks for the great question! <3
