Here's what's going on right now.My grandpa started having strokes this afternoon. Only when he got home and Grandma saw him did she call us, and Gareth call the ambulance. They took him to the hospital and he had a stroke in the ambulance and a few more at the hospital. The delay in medicating him came from diagnosing the kind of problem in his brain. The medicine has a 1/16th chance of causing bleeding in his brain. If he didn't take it, he would be paralyzed somewhere. So it's not over, as I was misinformed until my Dad sat us all down to give it to us straight. He wasn't coherent for the decision, so my Mom and Grandma gave the call. Keep praying, please.
It's dangerous, yes, deadly? Maybe, but it's the hard choice that has to be made. My grandpa works with his two hands on everything. He couldn't bear to be without one, or paralyzed in some way.
Example: "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?"Me: The mirror scoffed, then muttered, "Obviously not you."
He's just out of surgery and one carotid was completely clogged while the other is clogging. They did the clogged one and they'll do the other soon. It's to dangerous to do them both at once, but the meds worked. His one request was that we film the cranes putting in the new pump that he and my uncle have been preparing. It's this once in 30 years experience and he has to miss it. It's iffy if he'll be partially paralyzed.
