Matched Series By Ally Condie - Reading from 'Matched' from August 29th 2019

anyone want to do a buddy read for the sequel? :)

@Jamira You could try getting an ebook. Or you could probably find a pdf online :)
@Mary I am also jealous of your weather. You get snow!!! It never snowed where I live!!! It must be so fun because you don't have to go to school / college / work whenever it snows!!!

@tris yes I really liked it! And like I just said, the end really leaves you wanting more.
Also don't be too jealous of snow lol at least where I live, we get a TON and they very rarely will cancel school, etc. The roads get really bad for driving and cars get buried. Not so much fun. Would be nice to live somewhere they got light snow from time to time :)

@Tris Thanks for the tip! I prefer reading from actual books more than ebooks. But I guess I'll give it a chance. Out of stock again!! My mom will be checking another bookstore tomorrow. Hopefully it's available! Since I'll be pretty busy this week, I'll be cramming with this book on the upcoming holiday and weekends. I'll literally be reading all day to catch up.

Yes, I see a lot of similarities between Cassia's love triangle and the Tris, Peeta, and Gale love triangle.
@Jill I had a super busy weekend so I have some reading to do tomorrow but I will absolutely do a buddy read. I'm hoping to finish this one by Wednesday.
Any luck with getting it Jamira?
Tris, where are you in the reading?
I didn't know what to expect from this novel but I love it. This has been a pleasant surprise!

I started on the monthly read for now (Across the Universe)
Also I want to talk about the end but don't want to spoil! :)

Can't wait to discuss this in more detail.

Here's a starter question: "Were Cassia and Ky manipulated by the Society into falling in love, or are their feelings genuine?" This is a question that kept coming around and around for me as I read this. On the one hand it seemed as if they were manipulated into falling in love, but then again--the "Match" with Xander didn't promote the same feelings for Cassia, so perhaps it was all genuine and would have happened regardless. Thoughts?

I think there was manipulation involved, but that they actually did fall for each other regardless. It seemed they had a connection from the beginning (the day at the pool) but cassia was just as brainwashed as the rest of the population to believe in the matching system.
I think she spent her life just believing there were no other options and therefore just focused on that, and never let any other feelings in. Seeing Ky on her screen just opened the possibility for her

Do you have any questions to throw out there for Matched? One thing that really struck me was how incredibly important the grandfather was. He was only in the novel for a relatively short time, but his presence was a driving force in this novel for Cassia and for her father. He really stood for breaking out of the Society's control and he gave Cassia some wind beneath her wings.

I think it's hard to know if she picked Ky over Xander, or if it was just sort of the thrill of the unknown. She has a great relationship with Xander and never showed any doubts about him. Maybe she was just bored, knowing Xander all her life. She expressed some jealousy over others getting matched and the excitement of actually getting to know your match.

The grandfather was definitely an important character. I have a feeling there is still more to learn about him (or maybe I'm just hoping!).
I think maybe he wanted his DNA destroyed for another reason, but I don't really know what. Maybe he just wanted his son to go against the control of the government.
I'm hoping he's left more behind for Cassia to guide her

Where do you think the story will go from here? Before we jump into the sequel
What do you think about the tablets? Why don't they affect certain people - or the red at least?
I'm wondering how wide-spread this control is in this world. They don't really talk about it being an isolated area to the world, but they do talk about different areas they can be matched with.

I read the beginning of Crossed at the end of Matched. I think it was a chapter or so and I really don't know where it's going to go now because some time has passed between the end of Matched and the beginning of Crossed. They are now out on the Farmlands and I have no clue how she's going to find Ky. It's like finding a needle in a haystack. I really want her to find him and to run off with him. I want them to be rebellious but I don't know if that will happen. I hope that they meet up soon though. I don't want the book to be about the journey to find him, but I'd rather have it be about them together in some way.
Also, the tablets are still a big mystery to me. Why they don't work on Xander and Ky is just strange (and a bit convenient I thought). The blue ones are interesting because they can keep you alive, and the green ones seem to be sedatives. The red ones are the ones that creep me out. I hope we find out what happened the other time they took them.

I think that is creepy that they can bting you alive. It seems like a cloned process to me!!!
I'm not sure María is online right now. I think she's already started reading though so I'll change the start date to today ☺
I'm starting to today. I will read quickly!
So far the book is good, but at the same time it's a bit boring.

Feeling bad for Xander, I really like him. Reminds me of my struggle of liking Peeta and Gale :D
