Any suggestions anyone?
Thanks

If you are looking for something similar in style, try Agent to the Stars. It is meant to be a humorous sci-fi tale, and has a close connection to the entertainment industry.

Well as I've said before if you liked Redshirts read Yahtzee Crenshaw's MOGWORLD. Its Redshirts in an MMORPG instead of space.

Well, first, let me commend you on your fine taste in speculative literature.

The seminal Scalzi work is Old Man's War: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/51...

The Old Man's War series added a 5th book earlier this year.

I also recommend The Android's Dream, many reviews of which comment on the hyper-extended fart joke that comprises the first chapter.

Fuzzy Nation...It got me started on Scalzi. Old Man's War series is also good, but Fuzzy Nation is more similar to Redshirts. Or try some of his short stories

If you like Redshirts, then I would recommend Fuzzy Nation. It's great!

Old Man's War is excellent. I read it after Red Shirts. You'll be amazed.

The Old Man's War series is a great next stop. His blog Whatever is fun to follow

Old Man's War is still my favorite. I think it is his best book. The series is absorbing.

I agree with Agent to the Stars, but also suggest Year Zero also has that feel to it. Very funny.

OLD MAN'S WAR is definitely the move. Cheers!

I enjoyed Redshirts on a number of levels then I went to Old Man's War. I read it in roughly one day and loved it. I'm not typically a straight sci-fi military person, but I loved this series.

Andriod's dream was a pretty good one too.

I enjoyed Redshirts as well. The initial concept was funny, and I was laughing out loud by the end of the prologue. But I was curious how he would sustain the concept through an entire novel. I was blown away by what he did with the story and the codas. Brilliant concept, even better execution.

I would recommend Fuzzy Nation and the Old Man's War books. Also, follow his blog.

I liked it too, and it was my first Scalzi. I expected NOT to. I think it was just entertaining, until the codas. They MADE the book.

I'll be getting Old Man's War next.

I really liked Little Fuzzy. Similarly light and funny, although the plot isn't similar at all.

Old Man's War is pretty much his best-regarded work. It's not as light and humorous as Redshirts (although it contains some of the same snappy dialogue between characters), it's more of a straight military sci-fi novel. If you wind up liking it, he has a whole series of follow-up books taking place in that universe.

Meran I knew about that, Andy :) but thanks for posting the info. It'll be awhile before I read them though; my To-Read bookshelves (yes, that's plural) are ...more
