Maybe I am not seeing this in the right light, but I see "Out of Africa" with slight story tweeks. Because I liked that story, I liked this one. But as I read the similarities far outweighed the differences.
gertt, I agree that Deanna Raybourn is changing her normal story pattern with this book. And Shannon, I enjoyed it too.
But the further I read, the more it seemed to ring a bell. I loved Out of Africa and so I enjoyed this book. Just seemed familiar. Might just be me.
Well...Here is one that I loved. I've not read this author before nor have I read out of Africa, so perhaps that makes a difference. Loved Delilah as a main character, and thought the cast was well rounded. :)

I have heard some members say they see the similarities, but just as many say they really liked Deanna Raybourn's book and can't see anything that overlaps or seems the same.
