I am currently reading If I Were You and Chris lives part time in Paris and so is supposedly fluent in french... I get that men speaking french seem to be found hot by a lot of people, but I have a hard time when authors make their characters speak the language and it has faults in it!!! I won't speak for the other languages like spanish or italian that come often too, but I am a bit tired of reading bad french in books.
I would like to know why authors don't have their sentences corrected beforehand? If I was to write a book with a foreign character for example I would not dare make him speak his mother tongue if I was not absolutely sure I have it right.
