Kate (kaitlins16) A love out of time. A spaceship built of secrets and murder.

Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.

Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone-one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship-tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.

Now Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.

I usually don't do science fiction books, but this one is really good.

Thoughts on . . .

Cover?
Writing?
Characters?
Science fiction elements?

Katy Sheffield | 19 comments Yay! Excited that this is here, it is on my tbr for this month :D

Kate (kaitlins16) I'll be reading the second in the next week. :)

Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments If I should read Across The Universe I shall have to hide it as my mother would be positively scandalized and would ask some questions Hahahahahaha. I like the whole spaceship theme and I heard that the 2nd book is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G though.

Haha, your mom would be asking some weird questions if she saw some of the covers of the contemporary books I have read. A lot of them have couples on them (they're really not that bad; they're just more "scandalous" than Across the Universe's cover).

Kate (kaitlins16) I was really into this book, even though I'm not a big fan of science fiction. Something about the story and its elements just appealed to me.

I recently read the sequel, and it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be (I was reluctant to read it for some reason).

Yep I'm currently hiding that in my room.

Karen’s Library I loved this entire series! I thought the first book was a bit odd at first, but I thought the concept was interesting and wanted to see where the story line took me. Glad I finished.
