Reading a Sequel after a long time

I am planning to read Fear (Gone Series #5) in the near future. I had read Plague (#4) quite a while ago (April 2011). I had read all 4 books up to Plague in a row, so the following question never mattered then.

So, if you're going to read a later book in a series, what do you think is the best way to remember facts from one or all of the books that come before it (without reading all the past books again)? It may be characters, story-lines, or even tiny facts that may or may not be relevant to the story.



Usually, when this happens to me, I just start reading and it all comes back to me. Sometimes slower than others. Or you could go to the authors website and read the short on each book. If you still don't remember the story, it probably wasn't very good to begin with. However, the "Gone" series is very worth remembering. Good luck.
