Ann (annrumsey) | 16929 comments Welcome ena! We are happy to have you join the group, I predict you will find quite a few new tempting books to try whether from our Group Read bookshelf, monthly posts on what we've read or the JF /NR thread for just finished / now reading.

Jacquelyn Schingeck | 40 comments I have just joined the group and look forward to hearing about the good, the bad and the ugly of books. I have a tendency to go back to authors I know and hope this group will bring me an entirely new list of books/authors to try.

Thanks Ann! Can you tell me what the "Monthly Reads" are and can anyone post their own or is it for Group Admins? I see a few people are posting for June.

message 109: by BarryP (new)

BarryP (barrypz) | 3498 comments Jess, anybody who wants to can post monthly. I tend to put a capsule review with each one, just to allow you a better chance to decide if you want to read the book. I find many good recommendations in other people's monthly read. I most certainly not an admin, I think Ann and Carol trust me about as far as they can throw me, Though Ann does look like she could give it a good shot.

Ha-ha, thanks Barry! I just didn't want to overstep. So how does it work? I'm gathering if you post: June Reads, it would be what you had read for the month of June?

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9484 comments Jess wrote: "So how does it work? I'm gathering if you post: June Reads, it would be what you had read for the month of June?..."

Hi Jess,

Yes, anyone can post their monthly reads each month. The June Reads post is what you finished in June, and as Barry says you can put a brief description, including your rating on whatever scale you choose, or you can just list the titles. We appreciate all posts, again as Barry says (yikes am I really quoting Barry twice in this post?) I also get suggestions (too many probably) of books I want to read from others' posts. You can post whenever you like. People post whenever they have time or whenever they know they've completed their last book for the month. If you miss a month it's also acceptable to double up the next month, just note that's what you're doing so we won't be super impressed at the volume for one month, LOL. Looking forward to seeing your post for June!

Thanks so much Carol for the clarification.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16929 comments Jess, yes, what Carol and Barry said, we are happy for you and any member to post a monthly list or any combination of months. I am often quite late or skip months so definitely no time limit.
I usually end up with 4-5 new books on my to be read lists from the posts. (A good thing in my opinion, lol)
Now signing off to figure out on earth Barry thinks I could (or would) throw him lol
