Colleen (alybyzrp) | 1 comments This book was a sort-of mystery, with a past and current stories coming together in the end...it involved the bubonic plague... if anyone can help me with the name/author, it would be greatly appreciated! I remember really liking it but I completely blank at the title.

Thanks!

kvon | 56 comments Probably the Doomsday Book by Connie Willis, who won the Hugo and Nebula Awards for this novel.

Roberta (robbi_t) There are so many books about the bubonic plague! I must have read a dozen or so over the years... Could this one be "Year of Wonders" by Geraldine Brooks?

Christy | 37 comments What's coming to mind is Phyllis Reynolds Naylor's young adult York trilogy. In the third book, "Footprints at the Window," the main character who has pressing concerns in the present day goes back in time to the Black Death era.

Peggy | 21 comments The book Karen mentioned is Plague Tales by Ann Benson. The story in the past is a Spanish physician sent to Britain to treat the royal family. He is hiding the fact that he is Jewish. The modern story takes place after a new (non-bubonic) plague has caused a backlash against the medical profession, requiring medical specialists to retrain in other fields. The main character is retraining to become a forensic anthropologist. She digs up the doctor's journal, which is wrapped in a blanket that carries bubonic plague, causing it to manifest again.

There are two sequels: The Burning Road and The Physician's Tale.

Regan (livingscenery) | 49 comments Could it be "The House on Hound Hill" by Maggie Prince? It's a YA novel.
