Erin | 17 comments Two of my all-time favorite books are The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin and Ready Player One by Ernest Cline - what do these books, one for children, one for adults who grew up in the '80s have in common? There's a mystery central to the book with lots of clues and searching along the way - the puzzle(s) are kind of scavanger huntish. This was also done fairly well in The DaVinci Code and The Eight.

Are there any other books like this that would satisfy my jones for puzzle mysteries (and do people still say "jones"?)?

Betsy | 190 comments Have you tried other books by Dan Brown? Several of them are in the same vein.

I also recommend The Rule of Four.

Hester | 23 comments Parnell Hall has a Puzzle Lady series that might interest you.

Jordan | 14 comments I haven't read this yet myself, so I can't personally vouch for it, but one of the books on my to-reads shelf is The Hunt For Atlantis. It's the first book in a series that looks like it may be sort of along the lines of what you're looking for :)

Erika | 17 comments I'm also interested in reading some books like this! :D

I recently read one children's book that some reviewers said was very puzzling and fun. The book is The Maze of Bones, and it's part of a very long series written by different authors. Unfortunately I didn't like it. But hey, you might!

I'll be watching this thread :)

Rule of Four is not by Dan Brown. I've never read a Dan Brown book and don't expect to. I read the first page of The DaVinci Code. I can't tolerate his writing style.

Betsy | 190 comments I didn't say it was by Dan Brown. It was just an additional recommendation.

Janet (janet_lockhart) | 27 comments Take a look at Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan. If you like Gothic overtones you might like The Club Dumas by Arturo Perez-Reverte.

Erin | 17 comments Thanks so much to those of you who took the time to recommend! I've read all of Dan Brown's books and THE RULE OF FOUR. And I'm adding each of the others recommended to my TBR list.
