Delaney Has anyone ever skipped to the back of the book, and decided not to read the rest of it. Either not finish it at all, or at least wait till the next book comes out? I'm curious if i'm the only one who's done this, I did it last night on a new series, and however much I regret doing it, i would also hate waiting another full year till the new one came out because i was so upset by what i found. I haven't done this in quite awhile, but i have done it before. Am i the only one?

Brandi I can't do that out of good conscious and out of respect for the authors. To me, it's like cheating the author of their hard work. I will 99% of the time, finish I book that I start no matter if I think it's great or just mediocre. The only time I have refused to finish a series that I started was when I felt the topics in it were just too hard for me to handle...not something that I could see as morally right. That has only been 1 series. Aside from that, there is only one other book that I got about half way through and then stopped. It wasn't that the book wasn't good but the authors writing was horrid. There was a lot of grammatical errors and just sentences that didn't make sense, things like that. The farthest I go is to maybe glance to the end of the page I'm reading if I'm really excited about what's happening.

I totally plan to finish this book because the series is VERY good, it was just being as upset as I was by what I discovered I didn't want to wait a year for the next one to come out before I was able to find out what happened next. I was almost in tears as it was, and i HATE crying

MsAjay (Ms. Undercover Geek) I always finish a book when I start it. If it is a series such as a trilogy I try to wait for all the books before I start. BDB is different because it is already 11 books in the series and there is no telling when the series will end. I am currently on book 10...after Qhuinns book I will be waiting a year like everyone else :-(

Erin O'Riordan ***Possible Minor Spoilers*** With BDB, each book so far has been about a different couple, and the couple always ends up together at the end, so there are no cliffhangers in that respect. However, the set-up for the next couple is always part of the book, so there's always some kind of suspense about what's going to happen to THEM. But she always resolves the main love story in each book.

That's a pretty common practice with most writers when they do a series with each book focusing on a different couple. They get their HEA's and then the next book moves on to the next character. I'm currently reading the Anita Blake Series so it's not as clear-cut but she does a nice job at the end of her books of getting you a little run down of what happens the next couple months afterward so you're not left really hanging about anything.

I do this all the time. Like if I get a new book in I will skip to the end or the middle and see what it is about. If I don't like it than i will either return it or read it. I like to know/expect what the book is going to be about.

I can't do that to this series, I've looked to the bottom of the page, but I always read all the books from front to back and in order they were written!
This series I skipped till the next book comes out was a youth adult book

Stephanie Bolen I read books and watch movies even after I read spoilers. For me the journey is so much better than the destination. I have however stopped reading books or took forever to read one because the writing frustrates me or because I hate the characters. I've even thrown a book across a room when I read that the hero of the love story was cheating on his pregnant wife in the first chapter. Sorry but you can't make me root for a character or fall in love with one if they do something unforgivable in the first part of the book.
