Surprisingly, no. Which has really shocked me, because I think my book is much more blasphemous towards Christianity than the Cthulhu mythos. I gotta say that is very perceptive of you. No one else has ever made that connection.
Humorously, the mild backlash I received from hardcore Lovecraftians has led me to do some even more blasphemous things in the sequel to TWSNB. Someone asked if I worry about insulting folks. I positively delight in it.
I also want to note that even though this is technically the last day of the group read, I have no intention of leaving this thread. If anybody on here or anybody who in the future reads my book has questions about it--or anything else I've written--feel free to post it. I love stuff like this. As I'm sure some of my friends on this thread know--we do this for the love of the game and for the readers, not the money (ha!). So please, never hesitate to ask a question.
Robert Chambers The King in Yellow was a big influence. The interesting thing is that I don't really have favorite authors. I'm not the kind of person who reads everything somebody writes (though I am on a Ronald Malfi kick these days). So I think I have a broad list of influences, including a lot of non-horror guys like Fitzgerald, Hemingway, David Mitchell, Dave Eggers, Bret Easton Ellis, those sort of folks.
Thanks, Brett! I thank you for taking the time to chat it up with us and I appreciate your insightful comments. Can't wait for the sequel! 57-1/3 is a very unlucky number for cows!

Ha. Love it!!
And I will definitely be reading it. :)

Yay! I entered! Thanks, Brett. And thanks for participating this month in our discussion of your book, Brett. I'd also like to thank everyone who participated. There was a lot of great discussions on That Which Should Not Be and was great to read through. I would have participated more but I'm going through a ton of life changing events that give me very little Internet time.
Thanks again, Brett. Do you mind if this thread remains open in case others wish to join in the discussion sometime later?
Absolutely. And if you have questions when you get everything straightened out, Jason, I would love to answer them. Enjoyed it guys. Don't be shy.

Didn't win the last giveaways, so I entered again!! (Okay, I have the books on my Kindle, but I'm one of those who "needs" to physically see the great ones lined up nicely on my bookshelves...)

Brett! You the man! I've entered into both and will now scream from the rooftops of my city how great you are!
Brett wrote: "Haha. Customs man. Drives up the price like crazy."Oh and if I win, don't worry about customs... I'll get em shipped to my work... erm, Canada Border Services. :)
Brett, thanks for the discussion and the signed copy that I won in the first giveaway. I am like Kim. I bought and read it on kindle and put the signed edition on my bookshelf.

Just one other thing, if anybody wants a signed copy, I'll buy it from Amazon, sign it, and mail it to you. We can work out the cost on paypal. I always have a number of giveaways going anyway so it's all good with me.
Hey guys. Wanted everybody to know that I've got a book sale going. That Which Should Not Be, The Void, and Limbus Inc are all on sale for Kindle and Nook for 99 cents. Hope you will check them out.
