Gone with the Wind
question
Don't you wish you had your own Charles Hamilton??

Charles was my favorite character in the whole book, though Melanie came a close second. I think he deserved love that Scarlett never gave him. He was so sweet and loved her even though she was selfish. Poor Charlie thought she loved him back, and died without knowing the truth of their marriage. I just wish there were real people like him.

Charles was sweet but naive. I don't know if I would consider what he felt for Scarlett love. It was more of an infatuation. He loved her beauty and how he felt when she batted her eyes his way, but he didn't know her at all.
Rhett, on the other hand, knew the real Scarlett -- and loved her in spite of who she was.
Charles certainly didn't deserve to be used as he was so shamelessly by Scarlett

Maybe it's too early for me to answer this question as I'm still reading Chapter 5. Originally, he would marry his cousin Honey Wilkes.
I watched the movie though, there is not much about Charlie Hamilton.
Scarlett said "he's an awful sissy." in Chapter 1. :p

I think Charlie was the only character in to book who go what he truly wanted and died believing everything was going to end perfectly for the South, as he and everyone else expected.
The war had just barely started, so he didn't see the horrible outcome, and he died believing in Scarlett's full and complete love for him. (Why else would she marry him if she didn't love him?)

Charles was nice, but frankly I'd rather have Rhett. Charles in my opinion was way too naive and silly, and Rhett isn't. He's much more wordly and relatable. Plus he is a good listener, and I love his sense of humor. So yeah, I'd rather have Rhett.
I felt very sorry for him. He was used and was never treated how he deserved. But that being said, I wouldn't be attrated to someone like that. He was too mousy (if that's a real world. lol)
