One day, the Moon up and disappeared; where it went, or why, none can say. Without the Moon's light to keep them in check at night, monsters, crawling horrors, and other creatures of the dark run rampant throughout the land. But Princess November has much more pressing matters to worry about: she hasn't had a decent sleep in ages.

Here's the first page of No Rest For the Wicked:

Finished the first chapter. It's a bit choppy in pace as there's a LOT of exposition to set the stage, but it already seems to be evening out by the end of the chapter. Although pieces of famous fairy tales are blended into the premise and plot Princess November's adventure does feel like it'll be a unique one.

The art has a very angular style to the character designs, which won't be for everyone but it's done well and I personally like it. There are some great looking pages, particularly when splashes of color are used here and there in the otherwise black and white comic.

So far so good. :)

Read chapter two. This is pretty off the wall but I'm really enjoying it. The latest fairy tale parody characters are quite amusing.

Red's my favorite, which should probably concern me in some way...

Kristen | 1179 comments Just caught up with the comic. I'm a bit surprised. It's actually pretty funny. I like all of the parodies of the classic fairy tales.

I gotta say, though, I really don't like the art. The eyes are too large and the face shapes are strange. I like some of the other aspects of the art, but I really do not like the faces.

Yeah. November doesn't bother me for some reason, but the other characters' faces look really odd. Red also looks like a boy whenever not wearing her hood.

Loved the look of Beast though.

Kristen | 1179 comments I definitely thought that Red was a man for a couple of pages. It wasn't until someone said "she" that I realized she was female.

I think the design for Beast is pretty good, too. It's not too similar to the Disney design, but he's still actually a beast.

Finished chapter 3. Wow. Another interesting (and rather heavy) twist on a classic. Sprinkling humorous touches while dealing with horrific material is tricky, but done well here. Still really enjoying this.

And I caught up. Very weird but I like all the imaginative variations on the traditional fairy tales. The art continues to be hit or miss but I can deal.

Kind rough stopping point, especially since it seems to be on hiatus. Wish there was more to read.
