Lol Marnie! Great minds think alike as they say ;) I am glad you are enjoying both of those books. Forbidden just gets better and better. I wasn't sure if I would like it either before I read it but it blew me away. I was very pleasantly surprised :)

So glad you liked Comanche Moon Lisa! I read it last summer and loved it. I bought about a dozen of her books in the last couple months!

Two of my favourite novels! Hope you're enjoying both Marnie.

Kimberly | 2033 comments Finished Sailor Twain by Mark Siegel which surprised me a lot. I didn't expect to enjoy it that much but wanted to give it a try. As much as I love graphic novels/comics I don't have a good track record with this type of sequential art/novel type but I gave it 4 stars.

and I finished Inferno (Robert Langdon, #4) by Dan Brown which I loved. 5 stars.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19205 comments I am back and alive from my week in Thailand. I read Invisible Monsters for my i read on the plane over there, as I really liked Fight Club and my housemates loved others by him (Lullaby for example). This one was a lot of rubbish though. A couple of stars for Chuck Palahniuk style twists.

Now half way through Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. I was hoping to get more read but they turned the lights out on the plane home and I felt mean having my reading light on. Enjoying it, but really wish the big, exciting part of the book would start soon. I'm a little over all the world building without too much action (there is a bit) after 500pp.

Welcome back Rusalka. Well you've made it further in Jonathan Strange than I did - I gave up about 450 pages in as like you say there was too much world building and not enough action.

Rusalka, you are back! Did you have a good time? Jonathan Strange has been sitting on my TBR pile for months now but I keep putting it off. I really want to read it but the length intimidates me a bit.

Comanche Moon was brilliant Kimberly! It was my first book by Catherine Anderson and I think she is a great writer and I will definitely be reading more books by her. I will probably read the next book in this particular series, Comanche Heart, first as I really want to find out what happens to Amy.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19205 comments Thanks guys, I had a wonderful time. Although it is hard not to when this is your view out of your hut everyday:
description

There were 21 of us who descended on Railay Beach in Thailand (including my friend's grandma, mum and her boyfriend. I was impressed!) It was our treat to ourselves as most of us are turning 30 this year. The others are turning 30 next year, so who knows what may happen! But lots of relaxing, exploring, drinking, climbing, reading, board games on the beach, swimming, muy thai watching, thai cooking learning, lady-boy meeting, and many, many massages. A great holiday really.

I can see so much potential in Jonathan Strange, I have to finish. And at 500pps, I don't want to give up as that's an entire book I have read with no count towards the alphabet. I had Lexx taunting me in the airport in Sydney saying "Your last chance to get another i book! If not, you'll have to read the whole thing!" Bastard.

You won't be disappointed! Comanche Heart was very good too :)

message 69: by Samantha A (new)

Samantha A I just attempted a Harlan Coben book and couldn't get past 33 pages.. His writing style is too poor for my taste.

Thinking of moving on to either Desperation or Under the Dome.

Kimberly | 2033 comments I'm reading Notorious Nineteen (Stephanie Plum, #19) by Janet Evanovich and Night Angel 9 (Night Angel 9, #1) by Peter Telep and still reading Hexed (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #2) by Kevin Hearne on my cellphone.

Sarah | 18550 comments I've just started reading Only the Innocent which I am reading for the EU challenge. I bought it ages ago and forgot what it was about so when I read the first half dozen pages this morning it was an interesting surprise.

message 72: by [deleted user] (new)

I've started The Shadow of the Wind, which will complete my alphabet. Not that I've picked a chunkster to finish or anything...

message 73: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3259 comments About to start The Kill Artist? I am looking for something fun and easy to read. It might even count for my EU challenge but I need to read it first to see if it qualifies.

I think The Rose of Fire is is about the library itself.

I also think that the English language version is available only in eBook.

Shannon (sianin) | 453 comments Am reading Empress Orchid (Empress Orchid, #1) by Anchee Min . I had picked this up at a library sale and had not heard of it before but often enjoy these Chinese historical novels. So far I am enjoying it.

Janice (jamasc) | 59890 comments I finished NOS4A2 and gave it 5 stars. While I was listening to "Audible hopes you have enjoyed this audiobook", I was lamenting that it was over. I will definitely read this again.

Next up is Jack of Diamonds and Fiji: A Novel.

Glad you enjoyed NOS4A2. I'm looking forward to reading his other books. Have you read any of the others at all?

I liked it too.

Chrissie, Read it aloud "Nos-Four-A-Two".

message 88: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie Janice, I have said this aloud, but I still don't understand. I guess I am thick headed. I DO NOT understand! I am annoyed at myself.

Don't put yourself down Chrissie :)

NOS4A2 = NOSFERATU (This is a cult German horror film from the 1920's about a vampire). I haven't read NOS4A2 yet but I am assuming that there is a vampire connection in there somewhere seeing as the title is a play on the word NOSFERATU.

message 90: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59890 comments Nosferatu is the German word for Vampire. The story is about a man who "saves" children, taking them to Christmasland (where it is Christmas every day for eternity) in his car. The license plate is NOS4a2.

message 91: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie Thank you, Janice. I did not know the German word.

message 92: by [deleted user] (new)

I've finished The Shadow of the Wind, and completely loved it.
That also finished the alphabet (first time round). Now, do I want to do it all again, but by title?

Seeing I have American Gods on the go, it possibly looks like it.

message 94: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59890 comments I started Jack of Diamonds today, for my alphabet challenge. Yahooo!

It's kind of a chuckle to listen to an Australian narrator try to nail a Canadian accent. He's doing a passable job, though.

Chrissie I just finished: The Guns of August. I read the audiobook format.
My review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Anybody who says this is easy to do is ......well, bending the truth!

Now I need something easy, and I hope captivating. I will soon start: Cold Sassy Tree. I have heard it is similar to To Kill a Mockingbird. Can it compare?

message 100: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Well to catch up the series as far as it is currently written, finally jumped into A Dance With Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5) by George R.R. Martin this one will take a couple days to say the least
