Todd I had posted an early topic regarding if this book was better than The Book Thief, which I did not care for. I loved this book. Thought the ending could have been a bit different, but that doesn't mean better. It didn't bother me as it seems like it did to some. The part of the book that irked me was the second to final chapter regarding Audrey. There is all this build up all book long about these two. Even the author goes on about how she has to be the last person on the card and he has to go in order, with Audrey being last. And all he does is dance with her for three minutes??? WTF He did a great job with Marv, with all of the lives he changed on the cards, and then all this buildup end with about a three page part. I know she comes back again in the last chapter but still, he should have done with her part. I loved the entire book, couldn't put it down, but this was a letdown.

message 2: by Sam (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sam Funderburk yes and no. As always dependent on the reader. I'm sure for females it showed a sensitive and caring protagonist, but for MOST males like you and I, it was kind of unrealistic.

Hannah He did his part though. He couldn't just break all the boundaries and do whatever he wanted with Audrey. He only danced with her and that was it because he respected her boundaries. Doing anything more would've cost their friendship and put Audrey in a position she didn't want to be. Audrey needed to move when she was ready and not on anyone else's time table. It doesn't seem unrealistic to me.

That being said, I thought the Audrey/Ed relationship is rather lame and cliche. That's one thing I don't like about the book.
