I actually really enjoyed the series. Enough that I read all of them in like 3-4 days. I recently read somewhere that this was going to be a movie, so I'll be interested to see how it compares to the book once it's out.
I just started the series last week and I'm about 2/3 done with the last book! Book was really good, can't wait to see the movie!
I really enjoyed this...read it a few months ago. Haven't read the rest of the series yet but I am looking forward to it!
I read this series last month and really enjoyed it. It was full of action although it was a bit of a quick read. Can't wait to see the movie and hope its just as good!
I enjoyed the first book and it was an easy, quick read. However I heard that the sequel wasn't as good. Is it worth reading?
Allye -I personally liked the sequel quite a bit. In my opinion, as long as you go into it knowing that
A) they're in a completely different scenario now - they're out of the maze and in the real world, and
B) Teresa's character is going to drive you nuts
then it's still a highly enjoyable read.
I liked the first book but as the series progressed I was annoyed that the supporting characters weren't developed further.
this is one of my all time favorite books, which is packed with TONS of action, and I guarantee you'll all love it just as much as I do!
I liked the books but I understand where you are coming from Sneha. But out of the whole series the last book and the prequel were the best. The prequel beat the whole series
loving this book. almost finished book 1. cant seem to put book down but have to for having 2 wild children.
Very excited to read this book. Read the first two chapters as a sample on amazon and it caught my interest right away. Can't wait to really get into it.
Hi folks, I'm considering buying this for teachers to read to a tutor group/ home group. Any opinions would be gratefully received. I'm thinking yr 11 (16 yr olds). Teacher reads - they listen. Or if you have a better suggestion fire away. ( I'd really like a short story collection.)
Read this book a couple of weeks ago and it was just such an amazing plot-driven, whirlwind. I went straight for the next book in the series and am about to start the third :')
I've owned these books for over a year, actually. Read them all when I first got them. There are 4 books in the series. The movie will be out February 14, 2014. I've had James Dashner on my facebook ever since I read the books last year. I have the paper backs of Maze Runner and Scorch Trials, plus hardbacks of The Kill Order and The Death Cure. Lovely series. I love all kinds of YA books, and this is one of them. For the teacher, I would say yes.
I really loved these books, although I haven't read Kill Order and I probably won't. I hope the movie will be just as awesome! I've seen a few pictures already and it looks good.
Although there was a lot of things happening throughout the novel, for most of the book I felt like there was not much action and it was quite boring, but my curiosity to what was happening in the book led me to continue reading. The characters were pretty well developed. My favorite being Teresa and chuck. (view spoiler)I loved the ending and I believe that the next books will be better. I think that the mystery will be somewhat less prevalent and therefore I believe that I will enjoy the next book more. The last 60 pages of this book were my favorite.
I really liked what Dashner did with the lingo in TMR. He did a great job of creating a unique world that is memorable. This is my favorite of the series and I can't wait to see the movie.
This was an amazing book that had me hooked the whole way through! Loved the characters, plot, and setting especially! :)
I really enjoyed reading these books! I wasn't sure whether I would like it because my brother recommended it and we like different book genres, but I read them and am really happy I did. I still need to read the prequel but I'm sure i'll get to that soon.
I loved this book! I liked the constant action and it wasn't hum drum and a let down like some of the other books I've read recently. I couldn't put the book down and read it all in one sitting. James Dashner is definitely one of my favorite authors for this genre.
Sophia - Definitely start with Maze Runner. The prequel really has little to do with the other three books, and it will spoil the suspense of the trilogy if you start with it.
You'd be fine to start with the prequel. That's how I read it. But like Ashley said, it doesn't have much to do specifically with the series. I didn't think it spoiled anything.
I loved the maze runner and i personally think it's the best book out of the trilogy!! The plot is really interesting and I loved the mystery that came with the storyline!!!
I had to read it twice, the first time I really didn't like it but I heard it was going to be a movie so I gave it another try and really liked it and can't wait to read the next book :)
I just finished the first book. I liked it, but didn't love it. I thought the premise was interesting, but the delivery was a little mediocre and the plot twists were predictable. I did, however, like it enough to want to finish the series. So today I will download the second book and read on.
I just got book 3 yesterday, and I'm only about 60 pages in. I love the first book, it has to be my favorite. I didn't really like the second book, but that's probably just because I found the setting to be really boring. There wasn't much action, it felt like all they were doing was walking across the desert, even though that's not at all what was happening. Hopefully the third book is better. So far, there isn't really any plot direction but I'm only just starting. Just make sure to read the first book - it's absolutely amazing!
Anna- it depends on how sophisticated your 11th graders are. This is definitely juvenile/young adult literature. I would have enjoyed this quick read as a teenager but would have had no problems dissecting the plots, themes, twists, etc. So, purely on an intellectual level, it might not be challenging. More of a fun read. That is just my opinion though.
I really liked TMR but couldn't get into the second one.....i got like 50 pages in and gave up. Does it get better and I should give it another chance?
The second book gets much better towards the middle/end. I still didn't really like the second book but I think it's mostly because I found the setting to be kind of dull. The third book is just absolutely amazing. I think you should give the series another chance
I loved this book and the series it is from, definitely one of my favourite series I read last year due to the fact it was full of action and had a fantastic plot. Though like a lot of you I thought the second book wasn't up to the standard of the other two. Is the prequel worth a read?
I really enjoyed this book, I found it impossible to put down! The characters were brilliantly presented and the plot nail-bitingly tense and exciting. I'm very curious as to how the movie will turn out, taking into mind this is a thriller in its own right. I hope they keep every bit of detail in and don't dumb it down at all...
I loved the series read the first book a few years back and was surprised and pleased to find out there were more. :) the prequel though is defiantly my fav out of them all and defiantly worth a read!!!
I really didn't get the hype for this book... Like it wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't well developed in my opinion. I liked the original plot, this book had the potential to be pretty amazing, and then it just never really went anywhere....
The Maze Runner is one of my favourite books; it had me hooked from the very first line. The idea is brilliant and incredibly intriguing, but I think what made it great was the mystery. In the second and third books, it loses that element, so I didn't like them as much.
And the prequel was just... no.
I can't wait for the movie, though; the cast is amazing!
I had no idea this was going to be a movie! I loved this series but I haven't read the prequel yet. Can't wait for the movie.
Wyatt wrote: "I had no idea this was going to be a movie! I loved this series but I haven't read the prequel yet. Can't wait for the movie."Don't bother with the prequel. It doesn't even involve the same characters and it's frustratingly boring.

I agree! When you read the third book, everyone's roles within Wicked become clear
This series was much better than the Hunger Games in my opinion. They had similar ideas but were completely different. I liked the plot and the writing better in this series.
