We need nominations for the Medieval/Inquisition poll. Let us know what book you are suggesting.

Rules
* can't nominate your own book
* only one nomination per person
* first 6-8 books will be chosen
* need to tell us why you are suggesting this book
* be respectful of other people's choices

Sanne (sanneennas) | 9 comments In a Dark Wood Wandering: A Novel of the Middle Ages by Hella S. Haasse

Simply the best historical fiction set in the Middle Ages I've read up to date. Haasse is a wonderful author, and in this book she takes you to the world of the high aristocracy in the Hundred Years War.
It's an historical fiction that's character driven instead of plot driven (rare in this genre, in my opinion).

I have heard only wonderful things about this novel and really want to read it with a group.

Sonali V I am nominating 'The friar of Carcassonne:the revolt against the Inquisition in the last days of the Cathars' by Stephen O'Shea.

I'd like to nominate Samarkand -it's a novel about the writing and history of the Rubiyat of Omar Khayyam - it sounds really good

Karen Roman I would like to nominate Ivanhoe by Walter Scott, mostly because I can't believe I've never read it, but also because it's got a little something chivalric for everyone. Richard the Lion-Hearted? check. Robin Hood? check. Templars? check. Distressed Damsels? Fighting for the right? Courtly love? check, check and check. Seems like it might be fun. :)

Zulfiya (ztrotter) | 5 comments How about the book about the suppression of the Cathars in medieval France - Labyrinth by Kate Mosse?

M.L. | 309 comments Nominate The Monk by Matthew Gregory Lewis, gothic, set in Madrid during the Spanish Inquisition. It was Lewis's only novel and he wrote it when he was only 20.
