I thought the movie was good, but Michela says she disagrees. I guess I did read it over 2 years ago so...

I think because I read it so soon before the film came out I kept pointing out things that the film changed that made no sense to change.

Like Wanderer was given the name Wanderer in the book because of the planets she'd been on. It showed she was well known among the souls. In the film she calls herself Wanderer, which doesn't allow the audience to realise that she is special.

In the book the trick to removing a soul out of a body is to cut the neck open and pull the soul out gently. In the film the trick was kindness. That was just cheesy, especially with the cheesy soundtrack playing.

All the flashbacks that Melanie shared with Wanderer were kissing scenes in the film. How is Wanderer supposed to care about Melanie's family especially Jamie if all the memories are of Melanie kissing Jared. That kind of ruined Melanie's character because she had way more agency in the book than just a girl who kisses a boy. You get the point but I don't think it was anywhere near as bad as others are saying though.
