I've yet to try it myself, but I've heard from some reliable sources that it is heaven in an abandoned parking lot.
I can't wait to try it out in the summer.
I think the longest I have ever was at Disney World for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at about 1 hr. They snake the line around so you're always moving. If it weren't for the kids, I never would have done that, though.I don't have much patience for stuff like that. I have a Hertz #1 Gold account so I never have to wait in line for my rental cars, for example.
I waited in a two hour line for the Vermeer exhibit at the Smithsonian, but I was lucky it was even open, because that was back when Clinton and Congress were playing chicken about the budget and there was a government shutdown for a few weeks. It was SO worth it, by the way. I love Vermeer. You could tell everyone did, all of us shuffling past these little gems of paintings with reverence and awe.
I love Girl With a Pearl Earring, but my favorite is really this one:

The Geographer
I wouldn't wait in a line in shops or markets and places like that, But Of course I would wait in a line in museums and galleries and in theaters, if it is something I really want to see.
waiting is relational to what else i could be doing. if i have nothing at all to do and i sit in a chair for an hour on the porch that is not much longer than standing in line for an hour waiting on a restaurant. BUT, if i think there is something else i should be doing, even a short wait for the XL4000 Friggin-Double-Loop-From-Hell coaster seems like forever.that being said, i would wait 1 hour and 23 minutes for one scoop of almond joy ice cream
especially on a long flight I don't rush to sit down as I will be sitting a long while anyway. I want to be the last one on and seated
To go back to your original post, RA, for a sec, I would totally wait two days, even for a free pass to the Dells. Waterpark rooms would be beyond cool.
My sister and I are going to get season passes to the water park here this summer. :D

I've wondered about that myself, Bunny. What is the allure of getting into those cramped airplane seats so quickly? And if you do join the rush, thinking to avoid standing in line, you go down the tube to the plane and what happens? You immediately get stuck in line, waiting for everyone in front of them to put away their stuff in the overhead bins.
Air travel is not as glamorous as it's made out to be.
And Bun, I'm one of those people who rushes to get on first. Get my stuff just how I like it in the overhead bin when I'm the only one way in the back of the plane, nobody rushing me, waiting with their eyes on my every movement. I like to get settled completely as soon as possible and then TUNE out.
I understand that too sally. I have a friend who does that and can be asleep befor the wheels get up
Jackie "the Librarian" wrote: "I hate sleeping on planes. It makes my teeth hurt, for some reason."Maybe you bite the person next to you as you're sleeping?
I don't think so, Larry. No, I think I press my tongue against my teeth when I'm sleeping upright, or something.

Anyway, I asked a couple guys what was up, and they said a local radio station was giving away free waterpark rooms at the Dells (for those of you who don't know, the Wisconsin Dells area is a major Wisconsin tourist draw that ran into some flooding issues last year and lost a ton of money...a lake broke...but that's another story) and Jimmy John's was subs for a buck fifty.
That got me thinking...for what would you wait in line, and for how long? For what HAVE you waited in line, and for how long? What's the longest line you've ever experienced? Was it worth it?
I waited in line overnight for a concerts a lot when I was younger. I snagged good U2, Peter Gabriel, and REM tickets that way back in the eighties. You get a sleeping bag, sit with your friends, and wait out the morning.
I refuse to wait in long lines at amusement parks, though. I've seen lines a couple hours long for roller coaster. Bleh.
And....you?
