Yay! I'm so glad! I just today finished a new Regency romance short novel that's releasing Nov 25th in Mistletoe Kisses anthology. I just realized there's no listing for it on Goodreads--going to create one now!

I read a review about "Preaching in Hitler's Shadow" on The Gospel Coalition web site. They review a lot of excellent non-fiction titles as does Tim Challies at challies.com.

I haven't seen Longmire yet!!!! I've heard from so many people that it's really good.

Katherine Good morning. I am still reading Villette by Charlotte Bronte. It's a good story. I love the Bronte sisters, especially Charlotte. Jane Eyre is my favorite classic book!

I never read Villette! I remember thinking I wanted to read it, but just haven't had time. Maybe I'll go back and find my copy again. :)

Villette does have a lot of French in it. I don't speak or read French at all and it doesn't bother me. I don't think it takes anything away from the story, however, I can understand where some readers might not care for the French.

I love Jane Eyre! I've always meant to read Villette. I know I may not like it as much, but I would still like to read it.

That's good to know! After your recommendation, I went to Google Books and downloaded the .pdf of the 1852 publication of the book. :) Then I went to Gutenberg.org and found the .epub version--even better!

I finished Villette yesterday morning. I like Jane Eyre so much better. The beginning of Villette is good. Lucy Snowe leaves her country, travels to Villette and becomes a teacher at a boarding school. However, once she's at the school, I thought the story slowed and dragged some. I did like the ending. I thought Charlotte brought everything together nicely.

David | 6 comments I've been busy reading (and listening) to our five-year-old granddaughter who is picking up reading at a fast pace. Recent favorites include Cat Days, The Watermelon Seed, The Nice Mice in the Rice: A Long Vowel Sounds Book, Rhyming Dust Bunnies, and of course, Green Eggs and Ham.

LOLOL That's awesome, David! On a totally unrelated note, I recently ate green eggs and ham at a restaurant--it was deviled eggs with avocado so the filling was green, with a curl of prosciutto stuck in it. Super cute appetizer and very tasty. :)

Heather (readingrainbowbrite) | 103 comments I reread Baby Love and Phantom Waltz by Catherine Anderson this week. Phantom Waltz is unique because the heroine is in a wheelchair. And the books feature a pair of brothers who are ranchers. I'm a sucker for a cowboy!

Oh! I love cowboys too! I will have to look those up. My friend, who grew up on a ranch, says that cowboys are not as romantic as in books, but I told her to let me have my delusions. :)

I just finished Minerva's Marquess, a secular (sweet) Regency romance by a favorite author. This one wasn't quite as riveting as some others I've read by her, but it was still a solid 4.5-star read for me. I really love romances where the hero and heroine are married--marriage of convenience stories or estranged husband/wife stories. It just seems so romantic to me!

message 633: by Julie (new)

Julie Graves (gravesok) | 109 comments Still reading Prelude for a Lord. I only get to read about a chapter a night. I'm really liking it, but this is Christmas season and the majority of my time is spent working on Christmas gifts. I have 2 other books I am reading as well. Twisted Innocence by Terri Blackstock and The Rescuer by Dee Henderson(which is a re-read). Those are both on Kindle so I read them at night in bed when the hubby is sleeping ;)

No hurry! I'm just glad you're enjoying it so far. :) I have the first book in a new Regency series in the Mistletoe Kisses anthology releasing on Nov 25th, and it's only 99 cents only until November 30th, so be sure to get it before the price goes up. :)
