Baqash | 106 comments I'm retired so off full time yet my days are full. I'm havind trouble reading posts from this group on my tablet. where I assume is a link and/or picture of a book referrrenced, I get a small blue square and have no indicators of the book referenced. how about you.

AngryGreyCat (angrygreycatreads) I have that problem using the mobile version of goodreads. If I want to see everything I need to go to the regular site. I also find that if a comment has a blue square and i tap the comment then I can see the cover. I am a teacher so my time is freed up a little more in the summer but not much because I am doing PD at least 3 days a week sometimes more.

How about you?

Connie N. Hmm, what's PD?

message 54: by Myra (new)

Myra (myraelise) | 34 comments I am not sure how many states I have been to, but it's quite a few at this point. My goal is to visit all of the National Parks. So far my favorite is Zion, but I haven't been to Yellowstone yet. We actually haven't visited any recently, but I love them, especially off season. How about you?

Professional development :)

I've been to many more monuments and historic sites than I have National Parks. I wish I had started my National Park passport back then because I've been to a handful. At the present I only have one stamp. How about you?

Baqash | 106 comments my parks passport is getting quite folk but can't bring myself to replace it. I like them in alone place. for that reason I collect my LB passport images on and in a collection of all sorts of across and small, ready to carry books and transfer them to a larger one. how about you? (which reminds me of ham radio and having to say over all the time. awkward that)

As far as LB images, I carry around blank index cards or white cardstock cut for larger images because they are lighter and cheaper than my big log book. I cut them out and paste them into my main book. (I don't get to box nearly as much anymore because I'm always having to work around someones schedule. Boo!)

One national park I really want to go to is Banff NP in Alberta Canada. How about you? Over and out :)

Got an iPad for my bday! Wooohoo! Now I see some problems people are having though. Goodreads is not nearly as intuitive in iPad form. I can't figure out how to find the polls on it. Anyone?

message 60: by AngryGreyCat (new)

AngryGreyCat (angrygreycatreads) I don't know about the Ipad app but on my Android I end up opening up the full site in the web browser rather than using the app or the mobile edition. I just really can't get to everything without the full site. It is funny because when I do that it keeps trying to prompt me to use the mobile version. This is not the only site where the mobile edition or the app are limited.

I've heard that and had the same problem when I first got my iPad. Now I also just use the full site by going through my internet browser. Seems silly to develop an app if it's not going to be useful.

Yes I don't really understand what the app developers are thinking..."here let's make an app that only lets users get to part of the stuff on the site and doesn't get them full functionality" why???

wordpress's app is the same way. My twitter app is a better but there are still some limitations. I find the Goodreads app particularly bad.

Connie N. So, back to the game...Iamabibliophile wrote: I've been to many more monuments and historic sites than I have National Parks. I wish I had started my National Park passport back then because I've been to a handful. At the present I only have one stamp. How about you?

I think I have 1 stamp too because I didn't know about them until I happened to go letterboxing with some friends who were more knowledgeable than I am. *sigh*
My husband's not into LBing at all, so our vacations are more about beach and sun and relaxation. We are heading to Myrtle Beach SC in a couple of weeks, and I look forward to the flight. I love flying. How about you?

message 64: by ☯Emily (new)

☯Emily Ginder No, I prefer driving. I will be leaving by car in two weeks for Texas. I will be making stops in Delaware, Virginia, Tennessee and then Texas. Do you like to travel by car?

message 65: by AngryGreyCat (new)

AngryGreyCat (angrygreycatreads) I wouldn't say that I like it because I'm not crazy about driving, but I like the flexibility it offers. I am leaving in about three weeks and will go to Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and not sure where else.

I'm driving to drop my kid off at college and take the other on tours.
How about you?

Oh boy, I sure don't envy you that task. I have 4 grown kids and went through that process more times than I can count! Of course, that's a lot more fun than the school loans that we're dealing with now!

message 67: by ☯Emily (new)

☯Emily Ginder I'm visiting my parents in Delaware, picking up my son who is doing an internship in TN and then going to Texas where he needs to move into another apartment before A&M starts. Then I am visiting an aunt in Amarillo, hoping to visit NM and then coming home. How about you?

How fun! I used to love both groups and was a diehard NKOTB fan of Jon. Tee-hee.

I am working on becoming a Master Naturalist so I'll be studying then. How about you?

I've never been to Myrtle Beach but would love to visit.
I work full time at home (more like double time) but have had a few days off to have a little fun. I'm taking a shotgun class to learn to shoot skeet and trap. I love to learn new things. How about you?

message 72: by Myra (new)

Myra (myraelise) | 34 comments I always love to learn new things. My list of things I want to learn is so long: Chinese, HTML/Web Design, how to really use my DSLR camera, quilting, etc. But I also have this huge fear of failing or not living up to my own expectations. I've been forcing myself sort of outside my comfort zone and have been writing articles for sales. I've sold 3 of the 4 I've done so far! So proud of myself. I wish I could get more comfortable doing things that are new or frightening. How about you?

Baqash | 106 comments my big goal is to run a half marathon next month. it has had me in a tizzy even though i'm putting in the work to prepare. Last friday I ran the distance unsupported and found I can do it in the time allotted (in fact better than I expected) but I ran into some other serious things I need to work to resolve before the race date so they aren't repeated. running at all is new territory for me, to complete a 1/2 marathon and finish in good shape is new and frightening. It has me debating whether I would do a full marathon as a long range wild and crazy goal, but out there it is. how about you
