C.V. Dreesman (cvdreesman) | 7 comments I'm curious to get everyone's take on what elements of Dragonlance made/make you a DL fan or enjoy the world of Krynn? Is is character, world building/details/writing, the adventure, etc.

I had the honor of meeting the authors at a GenCon panel just as they had started writing the original books and they had a lot of interesting ideas (most of which made it into the books if I recall correctly). As we all had an opportunity to give import as to what we was important to us as gamers/readers I'm wondering how much of that translates now.

Todd Neblett (kyoty) | 6 comments My first exposure to Dragonlance was through the original Dungeons & Dragons supplement and the Art of Dragonlance book. After reading both of those books I knew I had to dive into the books. The original Chronicles had been sitting in my bookshelf for a while at that time so I didn't have to wait between reading each volume. By the end I was hooked big time and it was a no-brainer that I would move on to the Legends trilogy at that point. For me it always felt like the original 6 books were telling the story of Raistin's fall & redemption and it was this that kept me coming back for more.

Derek Benton (derekbenton) | 3 comments I do not even remember how I came to discover the books. I was very young. I consider the Chronicles and Legends to be representing the fantasy genre to me. they are my Lord of the Rings. The variety of characters and the character progression of certain characters :-) kept me hooked.

James | 7 comments There are a number of things that make the books (the Chronicles and Legends especially) outstanding. To pick one thing - I would have to say the way that the characters are written. I truly care what happens to them in the story - those that have died - I have mourned their passing as if they were not fiction, but a real person and a friend.

Miranda Wood | 11 comments I started reading the series at a very young age (early teens) and the first book I read was Legend of Huma which was not one of my favorites. Tanis's group came next and eventually I ended up reading every book in the series. That's a lot of books! I'm disappointed that there are no new tales and hopeful that author's will pick up on Krynn again. Gotta love Tasslehoff and Flint:)

Todd Neblett (kyoty) | 6 comments Sadly, the decision doesn't sit with the authors it's up to Wizards of the Coast, the current owners of the series. It's disappointing that they have been treating Dragonlance like the redheaded stepchild of Dragonlance even though it was the first major campaign setting AD&D had. My hope is that WotC will one day realize how much DL means to the fans and they'll call on Weis & Hickman to once again walk the roads of Krynn.

Miranda Wood | 11 comments @Todd that sounds good to me! I wish they had done a better job with that Dragons of Autumn Twilight movie. Maybe it would have gone farther. They had some big names as voices but it was pretty bad:(

C.V. Dreesman (cvdreesman) | 7 comments I agree with that Miranda. Not a good movie at all.
