I know! Even though i've read a few like this where the character falls in love with the ghost while trying to save them, i still find it weird!

I didn’t realize that I was getting myself into a ghost story. I didn’t really read the description about the book. I hope they do it well. How traumatic to be so young and have your mother die, even worse to be in the car with her during the crash. I can’t imagine losing a mom so young. For the dad to move the kids from Portland to Scotland, what a change. I have always wanted to go to Scotland but to move there, I don’t know. That would be hard for the kids to leave their lives and their friends. I think it is kind of a mistake to move to the middle of nowhere. If you are moving kids around the world to where they don’t know anyone, I agree with the son that they should have moved to the city or a town where they could meet people and make friends quicker. If they are going to be isolated in this big inn, I wouldn’t want to move there either. I hope it is a scary ghost story. I just read that the ghost following her is a hot ghost. I really hope this isn’t going to be the case of a girl falling in love with a hot ghost. I don’t think I could handle it.

It is good to see that they aren’t isolated. They must be in some town. Hopefully she makes some real human friends. A castle and an old Inn in Scotland must have lots of ghosts. The author would make a cute little girl creepy and evil!

I don’t know about this book. “Can Ghosts See Me in the Shower” …Really?! I feel like this book might be too much on the “Young” side of “Young Adult” for me. I feel like I might be rolling my eyes a lot in this book if it keeps going along like this. I do like YA books, but I guess more mature books that don’t feel the need to point out “huge boobs”.

Okay Laria is really creepy. Something seems off with this Johan guy too. I know he is among the living but he is just so friendly and familiar so quickly. That would creep me out a bit.

(view spoiler)[ I am looking forward to reading about Riley’s meeting with Anne Marie. I do find spirits interesting and love the idea of mediums/psychics, tarot card readers and all that stuff. I believe in the spiritual world and I do think that there are people who can communicate with the spiritual world. I would have liked this chapter to be longer. She needed more from her mom, although I imagine this will come near the end of the book. Maybe Anne Marie could have told her more about herself. (hide spoiler)] The part with Laria was fun to read but I wish is went on a bit longer.

(view spoiler)[Truth or dare? I am rolling my eyes again. I am glad that when she was in the mausoleum that she found a way to deal with or handle her gift. It was neat that she connected with Ian’s mom and that she helped Riley. I think that she should give Johan a chance. Pining over a ghost is ridiculous. When Ian took Riley to the time he got poisoned, it made me wonder if maybe Laria wasn’t really the one who poisoned him. Maybe it was someone in his own family.

Of course the author would make Johan a complete jerk, so that Riley would continue to lust after a ghost. She kissed her ghost? Ghosts are not solid figures. Their body isn’t actually there it is their spirit. If she has sex with Ian, I might have to stop reading. I am sorry for being so negative and I hope you all are enjoying it more than I am.

The only thing I liked about this book was that it was a quick read. There was a lot the author could have done to make this a good story. I think (view spoiler)[ she should have explored the cutting a lot more. I don't think she really developed that part of the story. She should have skipped the whole love affair with the ghost and should have made a really scary ghost story (hide spoiler)]

That is like going for a twin brother if it doesn't work out with the first one. The fact that Ian's relative is just as drawn to her really bugged me too. They held hands minutes after they met. I honestly think this books should be aimed at 12-13. Laria is creepy, but not scary.
I agree with the cutting. I don't think it was really worth putting in. I mean, if she explored it more, then yeah, it would be alright. She didn't though, and it just seemed like she added it in for the word count.
Also, the tablet thing. She mentioned that she was put on tablets that made her numb to the world and feel nothing, But she mentioned it once

Her instant attraction to the guy at the end was way too annoying.

The ending was kind of good. (view spoiler)[ seeing Laria again (hide spoiler)] but was nowhere near good enough to make me want to pick up the second.

(view spoiler)[ I found it REALLY unrealistic how, after going to the library and doing abit of digging, she found the spell and manage to break it. I mean, come on. If it's that easy to break a spell / make a spell, everyone with a library card would dabble in black magic. (hide spoiler)]

I did read after. Even though it's meant to be read before the book, someone told me that it's better to read after. That was okay, but mainly the same scene where he died, from his point of view.

You guys talked me out of this one. I didn't read very far into it, but it wasn't really catching my attention and then I looked through your comments and ratings and I decided to move on to something else. Maybe I'll try it again at a later date.
