I am glad we are talking about this. I can't believe that parents would be willing to sign papers to have their children unwound. (view spoiler)[ The feeling of betrayal that you would have. It kind of reminded me of Cinder and the "volunteer" program they had going on there too. I have enjoyed reading about the kids on the run. I like how Les considers himself kidnapped, instead of saved. I am not a religious person and I really don't mean to offend anyone, but it shocks me what people can convince others in the name of religion. That it is an honour to be born to sacrifice yourself. No thanks!!

It is shocking that people are legally allowed to leave babies on people's doorsteps and that you have to take the baby if you don't catch the people leaving the baby. What is that all about? Smart though of Connor to take the baby to throw the attention off them.

It is an exciting book so far. I am interested to know more about what the clappers are. I enjoyed the scene at the school where they started clapping to get themselves away.

Jodi - (view spoiler)[ I found the Stork thing shocking too, For it to be legal for Mothers to stork it out to other people, but it being illegal for the the original people being storked, doing it to someone else is mad! I found the baby Connors parents had really sad! That poor thing got passed around like it was a game of pass the parcel! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ It is interesting to see their different journeys. I am just over half way finished the book now and they are at the graveyard. Roland really gets me and I am worried to see what erupts because of him. They all have different strengths that have led to getting themselves to the graveyard. I am a little worried about what this graveyard will be for them. Is it their safe haven until they turn 18? Or is it some child labor work camp? (hide spoiler)] I am just about to start Lev...can't wait to see what is going on with him.

That part was really sad. Do you guys feel like this is a good discussion book? I felt like that when I was reading it. So many issues to deal with in this one. I'll discuss more with you guys when you are done :)

It is a really good book to discuss, there's just so many horrifying aspects!
Some of the characters stories are really sad. Right now, i really feel like Risa has had it the hardest. (view spoiler)[ Growing up in a state home, trying to make something of yourself with music, and find yourself being an unwinded because of budget cuts? I just find that utterly heartbreaking. As if she hadn't already been dealt a bad hand! (hide spoiler)]

This is a good book to discuss. I just got to the part where (view spoiler)[ Lev is at the graveyard. Has he ever changed. It was almost creepy when he went to Connor in the middle of the night to tell him not to punch him again. He really has changed a lot since being on his own. He is more confident. He is not going to be pushed around by anyone.

It is also suspicious what the admiral is up to. Is he just made up of different parts of unwinds? What does he want with them. When they get sent away to "work" are they really going to work? I don't like him. I feel like they are going to have to escape this place at some point. And what the heck does Roland want with Connor? Is he trying to trap him? There is no way they can team up. Risa had some bad luck. I found all of their situations depressing. There are a lot of sad moments in the story and it really gets you thinking about some controversial issues.

But now Emby's going to his ex wife, and he has asthma from his unwinded lung, just like his son has, it's making me really think that the stories all true and the admirals a complete psycho! 82% (view spoiler)[ Wow! That fight between Roland and Connor. That was bad but interesting to know that Roland can't kill someone. He seemed to have no conscience all the way through the book. I am glad to know he is just a tough guy trying to survive.

Lev showing up at the harvest camp was interesting.

They are just leading Roland away. I actually feel bad for him. I hope that Lev will do something that stops Roland's unwind and they all get away. (hide spoiler)]

That would be terrible to be fully conscious and aware of what was happening but not being able to do anything to stop it. This is really awful to read, and then the nurse talking to him like everything is fine. I didn't like this part of the book and really hope Connor and Risa get away. (hide spoiler)]

Do you know where it says (some html is ok) at the top of the comment box? It shows you there how to do stuff, like the spoiler thing, bold writing and stuff. :)
For spoiler you just do < spoiler > (No gaps) then the same again at the end but < / (no gaps) at the beginning. :)

I love the idea of the letters too. It is really special. It lets them say whatever they need to say and I can imagine that they would have a lot of unsaid feelings. They probably had feelings that they didn't know they had.

I finished!! Omg this book is sooo good! I love how there were so many twists and I loved how Lev changed and became mature. I was kinda confused what clappers are though. Are they rebels?

I know! I told you about Roland. I just wanted him gone because he was such a trouble maker. I did feel bad for him though. That would be so awful to go through and be aware all at the same time. I didn't like that Connor had his arm. I would want it removed and would rather not have one.

From what i gathered, Clappers are people who can blow things up by clapping, due to something explosive in their blood.

When Mai clapped and bought down the whole unwind hospital, she said something about that job she and lev (and the other guy) went on. She said that it wasn't a job at all, but just a way to create more clappers.
Then she said something about being injected with blood, so i'm guessing the people who created the "job" just wanted to inject people with clapper blood.
