Doug Ward (wardswoods) | 78 comments I recently went to my pharmacist and asked him for an extra refill of my prescriptions for my Zombie Apocalypse bug out bag. What do you think his reaction was?

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) Depends on which prescriptions you are asking for...

Anti-anxiety he might have just shrugged and said he would call your doctor for an extra script.

Strong Pain medications, he might just blow you off and call your doctor to report the request.

Anti-psychotics, he might just give you a couple extra with no hassle or charge ;)

Classic response, I'm laughing out loud.

Would it be weird if he was totally on board??!

Not only Weird but a little unnerving.
I just envisioned walking up to my pharmacist asking for for back up scripts for a bug out bag and having him enthusiastically agree.
Yeah, that would be a mind tripping experience.

Glyn Gardner | 37 comments Excuse me, sir. I'm trying to get my zombie apocalypse bug-out bag up to snuff. Could I get an extra month's supply of Xanax? Maybe 2 since I'll probably be REALLY stressed when the dead start to rise.
Oh, and maybe some Percocet too, just in case I trip and fall while running from a zombie hoard.
Make sure they don't expire for a long time. Not sure how long this apocalypse is going to take, you know.

I actually have a little of my prescription left over every month... so I asked my doc to leave it that way in case I need to adjust... I freeze it. It has a frozen shelf life of ten years. I have about three months worth saved up at this point.

Some docs and pharmacies are actually ok about giving you a little emergency "stash" in case of natural disaster etc. Depending on the presecription, of course.

D.A. Roberts (daroberts-author) | 5 comments It's not a bad idea...especially if you have asthma or allergies. I keep a fully stocked first-aid kit in mine. If you're keeping anything with a shelf-life in your bag, it's good to rotate it out and keep it up to date.

Glyn Gardner | 37 comments Most docs I know are good with maintenance meds. It's the narcotics and benzodiazepines and other "abused" drugs that you won't be able to get.
Also, know where your closest animal hospital is. A lot of the emergency drugs work for humans as well as animals. You just need to know your meds.
