I love the G.A. McKevett series! A Body to Die For (Savannah Reid Mystery, Book 14) by G.A. McKevett Savannah is great. And I'd send you State Fair by Earlene Fowler but I already sent it to someone else. I really like the Benni Harper series. (Of course, I like a LOT of series! LOL)

Caroline | 661 comments I just did "reserve in store" at Borders for 9 books coming out today. I'll be reading A Killer Plot, Toast Mortem, A Cast-Off Coven, Night of the Living Deed, Grace Under Pressure, Reel Murder, Death in Show, Skein of the Crime and Junkyard Dogs (that one came out 27 May but I hadn't bought it yet). That should last me a couple days at least. LOL!

Nicola (murder-she-read) | 18 comments Hi Everyone, Is Holiday Grind (A Coffeehouse Mystery, #8) by Cleo Coyle a good book? I have read the series and liked it, and I am not sure whether I should get this book in hardback or wait until it comes out in paperback (my library can't get hold of a copy) - I could buy 4 paperbacks for the price of a hardback, decisions, decisions!

I don't care for this series, but if you're thinking about buying it you might check www.half.com. You can buy it brand new on there starting at $5.93. I buy a lot of stuff on there and have never had a problem.

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Heidi wrote: "You don't like the series Melodie? I have the first one in my tbr pile."

I read the first 2 and that was enough for me. I didn't care for the main character and the coffee talk didn't do a thing for me as I don't like coffee.

message 158: by Kelley (new)

Kelley (booknerd69) Regarding the Cleo Coyle series, I didn't like it either. I read the first one and didn't like the main character and nothing about the series was engaging. Maybe it's because I don't drink coffee, but I read lots of cozies where I am not a participant of the main back story.

message 159: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliawebb) The next for me is Uncommon Grounds by Sandra Balzo. I read the 3rd in the series first, so now I'm going back to pick up the first.

Heidi | 2446 comments Thanks for the info on the Cleo series everyone. I will be skipping it because I am pretty picky!

message 161: by Nicola (new)

Nicola (murder-she-read) | 18 comments I think that I'll wait until the book is out on paperback! Now to decide what to get next :)

message 162: by Susie (new)

Susie Fevella (susieinks) | 821 comments My next book will be Body Movers by Stephanie Bond. It just arrived from PBS and I don't feel like merging it into my bookshelf...so I might as well read it ;)

Denise | 618 comments Heidi wrote: "Thanks for the info on the Cleo series everyone. I will be skipping it because I am pretty picky!"

Well, let me put my 2 cents worth in the mix, I really like the series and I'm no longer a coffee drinker. I've read the first four of them and have liked them all. The only thing I can say is the relationship that the protagonist, Clare Cosi, and her ex-husband has is rather unbelievable.

message 164: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (lissieb7) | 80 comments I'm getting ready to start "Envious Casca" by Georgette Heyer and next on the list is "Pretty In Ink" a Tattoo Shop Mystery by Karen E. Olson. I really enjoyed the first in the series and am looking forward to this one.

The 2nd Tattoo Shop mystery is even better than the first one!

Heidi | 2446 comments Up next I have Truly, Madly (Lucy Valentine, #1) by Heather Webber and my June read The Mournful Teddy by John J. Lamb , now I just need to decide which one is first!

I'm hesitating between The Dark Place and The Witch of Agnesi. I've liked a lot Fellowship of Fear but math and cozy, hum...

Melodie said exactly what I was going to say...that the second tatoo mystery is better than the first. Great minds...and all that :)

message 170: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 661 comments See, I have no interest in tattoos. But I like the Cleo Coyle coffeehouse mysteries as well as the Sandra Balzo ones. (I have Starbucks listed as my emergency contact/blood type). Cleo Coyle is Alice Kimberly and both are husband/wife team Alice Alfonsi and Marc Cerasini. I think a lot of series can be good/bad depending on yr personal preferences. But sometimes good writing makes up for a topic I'm not into.

I'm not so sure. I love coffee (expresso, not Starbucks --Spanish, you know ;) ) but I haven't been able to read Cleo Coyle mysteries. However, I don't like tattoos at all and I've liked a lot the series. Perhaps interests helps, but at the ends it's the writing for me.

That's the ultimate reason I don't care for the Coffee Shop books. I don't like the writing or the characters. Clare's relationship with her ex-husband is just too out there for me to believe, too. I don't like tea, but I like the Tea Shop books. And I don't have a tattoo either (but I think they're fascinating and my niece is close to talking me into one!) but I really like the tattoo shop books.

message 173: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 661 comments Well, I don't knit but I'm reading Skein of the Crime. I love Maggie Sefton, like the CO setting and enjoy Carl chasing golf balls and Kelly and her friends. LOL I guess it's good we all like different books so that keeps a lot of authors in business. : )

message 174: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (cddimmitt) I read all of the Coffeehouse Mysteries. I started questioning whether or not I wanted to continue the series while reading Espresso Shot. I finished that one and started Holiday Grind. I didn't finish that one and gave up on the series.

message 175: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (cddimmitt) Next I think I will work on the Blackbird Sisters series by Nancy Martin. I've read the first How to Murder a Millionaire. It was okay. I liked enough that I wanted to give it at least one more chance. The next book in the series is Dead Girls Don't Wear Diamonds.

message 176: by Erin L (new)

Erin L (wellreadmoose) | 505 comments Next up for me will be Seven Up and The Eyre Affair

I have a few to finish first though. Revenge of the spellmans, Knots and Crosses (Inspector Rebus) and Anne of Avonlea.

I have read 4 of Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series. It is a little odd (actually a lot odd) and takes some getting used to. It's not a series that I rush right out when the next book comes in. In fact, I still have First Among Sequels to read.

There is another series that I tried to read by Kasey Michaels. The main character, Maggie Kelly, is a mystery writer and the characters in her books came to life. I took the book back, I just could not get into the story line at all. (If you are interested the first book in the series is Maggie Needs An Alibi

I thought I was reading them for the first time, but Anne of Avonlea is just too familiar so I must have picked it up and read it at some point in the past.

message 181: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (cddimmitt) I'm on the fourth one in the Anne of Green Gables series. I know I read the first one and watched the movie as a child, but I don't think I had read the rest of them.

message 182: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 2446 comments I own the first two Anne of Green Gables movies that were on PBS with Meagan Follows as Anne(love her!) and I have a nice hardcover with the first three books. I also used to watch that Disney show Tales from Avonlea, and actually just re-watched all seven seasons that I got from the library.

I loved the Anne books, though I honestly don't remember if I read them all. Might have to do a reread sometime. I have the two movies, but only caught a few eps of the series when it originally aired. It seemed like a good show.

Heidi | 2446 comments Super excited to find out today that my libraries overdrive is allowing people to check out the audiobook for Sizzling Sixteen (Stephanie Plum, #16) by Janet Evanovich , even though it hasn't been released yet! I am putting my name on the wish list and hope to get it before the release date! Yeah :)

Thanks for the followup. The Bay Tanner series is most enjoyable. I'm putting Canaan's Gate on the never ending list! I'm glad you enjoyed the book.

So far, I'm really enjoying it! Then I have a bunch more I started and got sidetracked and need to finish... Wild Penance (Wild Mystery, #4) by Sandi Ault Nowhere to Run (Joe Pickett #10) by C.J. Box and Night of the Living Deed

Susie Fevella (susieinks) | 821 comments As soon as I finish Body Movers I plan to start Consigned to Death

message 189: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 188 comments I've got to decide between -

Town in a Blueberry Jam (A Candy Holliday Murder Mystery, #1) by B.B. Haywood Some Like It Hot-Buttered (Double Feature Mystery #1) by Jeffrey Cohen Tressed to Kill (Southern Beauty Shop) by Lila Dare .

Hmmmmm........all 3 are on my nook which is in my car. I live on the third floor of my apartment building so I don't feel like going to get it. Think I'll listen to Best Friends Forever by Jennifer Weiner until tomorrow.

message 190: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (cddimmitt) I'm thinking I'll read one of these. They're all part of a series I'm trying to finish.
Sealed With A Kiss (Ty & Hunter #2) by Carly Phillips Demons are a Ghoul's Best Friend (A Ghost Hunter Mystery, #2) by Victoria Laurie Nobody's Baby But Mine (Chicago Stars, #3) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

I've read all 3 and I'd go with TRESSED TO KILL!

message 192: by Kaye (new)

Kaye (momgee) | 862 comments Grace Under Pressure by Julie Hyzy is the next one on my cozy list. Grace Under Pressure (A Manor of Murder Mystery) by Julie Hyzy I liked Julie's Whitehouse Chef mysteries so I'm hoping this one ( first in her Manor House mystery series) is going to be as good.

Erin L (wellreadmoose) | 505 comments Next up for me will be Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, #3) by Charlaine Harris

I really want to finish up the Stephanie Plum series, but I only own up to Seven Up right now and after picking up about 10-15 books on the weekend at garage sales and from my sister in law, I've got a lot of reading to do before I can buy any more with a clear conscience.

message 194: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 661 comments Finished Night of the Living Deed (A Haunted Guesthouse Mystery, #1) by E.J. Copperman which I loved. Also A Killer Plot (loved that too!). Now reading a non-cozy but the next cozies I have to read are Reel Murder A Talk Radio Mystery by Mary Kennedy and Huckleberry Finished (A Delilah Dickinson Literary Tour Mystery, #2) by Livia J. Washburn

I just finished a quick reread of CLUB DEAD last week for the new season of True Blood. I know the show will only very loosely have anything to do with the book, but wanted to refresh my memory about some of the stuff that happened. It was every bit as good the second time around. Rereading is something I almost never do, but have made an exception for the Sookie books because of True Blood.

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Heidi wrote: "Is that talk radio series good?"

I read the first one and thought it was kind of so-so. But I'm giving it another try with the new book, which I have but haven't touched yet.

message 198: by Sukhi (new)

Sukhi (svgoomer) Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, #10) by Charlaine Harris is next on my list.

But hopefully, I'll get Fellowship of Fear by Aaron Elkins before that. I really want to read it for this month.

message 199: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 2446 comments Thanks Melodie. I will wait to see what you think of book 2.

message 200: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (cddimmitt) For my next audiobook I am choosing between Before I Say Goodbye by Mary Higgins Clark by the fabulous Mary Higgins Clark or The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown.
