Next up on my reading list is the 1st in the Aunt Dimity series....I have heard so many good things about it, so I finally went down to the library to get it.

, then newest in one of my very favorite UF/PNR series!"Bundle of Trouble sounds good. I'll have to add that one to my list - thanks!
After finishing off 3 cozies this weekend, I have picked Wreath of Deception by Mary Ellen Hughes to be my next read. It sounds like a good one.
Edel wrote: "My next cozy is going to be Nutty as a fruitcake by Mary Daheim... Really good cozy writer"Edel, I agree that Mary Daheim is a great author. I like the Bed and Breakfast mysteries but I really love her Emma Lord series. I just finished The Alpine Uproar and it didn't disappoint. The only thing I am worried about is that after she gets through the alphabet she will quit writing the Emma Lord series (and that would be only 5 more books).

Maybe she could start over with double letters, i.e. The Aardvark Adventure. :-) Sue Grafton will have the same problem before too long.

Regarding Mary Daheim's Emma Lord series and stopping the series after Mary reaches Z: Mary Ellen wrote: Maybe she could start over with double letters, i.e. The Aardvark Adventure. :-) Sue Grafton will have the same problem before too long." That is a good idea except I don't think there are too many words that start with double letters. I guess that is the pitfall of using the alphabet to name books. Janet Evanovich can write a gazillion Stephanie Plum books--I don't think she will run out of numbers. :-)
I just picked up Laughed 'Til He Died: A Death on Demand Mystery at the library yesterday. I love Carolyn Hart's writing and her Death on Demand series especially. In fact it was this series that really got me into cozy mysteries. I had read others (John Dunning's Cliff Janeway series for one) but Carolyn Hart is really the one that got me seriously into cozy mysteries. So as soon as I finish The Mirror which is going to be a 5 star book I think, then I'm going to visit with Annie and Max Darling for a while.

I..."I've heard good things about Carolyn Hart's Annie and Max -- I think that's my next trip to the library. Any other recommendations for similar series? (I especially like romantic sleuthing dues, both to read and to write about, but I'm having a hard time finding good series featuring such.)

(I especially like romantic sleut..."Julia Spencer-Fleming's Clare & Russ series is one of my favorites. There was supposed to be a new one last month, but it's been delayed. I was really looking forward to it, too!
I'm going to visit my parents on Wednesday and I intend to pick up Murder Most Frothy at the library. I've read the first 3 books in the series and found books #5 & #6 at a library book sale last weekend so I just need to fill in the gap.
I am very lucky to live in a city where our library has it's own bookstore! It's not open every day, but it's always chock full of new reads whenever I get to go there...which isn't nearly as often as I want :)
Hi everyone,I was at the Malice Domestic conference this weekend, and the booksellers there had gotten permission from the publisher to sell Nancy Pickard's The Scent of Rain and Lightning: A Novel pre-release. I snatched it up and had her sign it at the conference. I can't wait to start reading it and the Carolyn Hart mystery that was included in my free book bag!
I'm going to the Festival of Mystery in Oakmont, PA today before heading home. In between selling my own mystery books there, I'm sure I'll be tempted to buy a few more titles from my fellow authors. I'm already eying L.C. Hayden's When Death Intervenes. Happy reading to you all!

I hope so I like it too but the last one was disappointing and from the reviews I have been seeing does not give me much hope in this one. Guess I will see though.
The only cozy in my current TBR pile (of library books) is Hot Wired: A Bel Barrett Mystery but I just looked at my library account and The Teaberry Strangler and The Cat, the Quilt and the Corpse are both in and ready to be picked up. I have been waiting for The Teaberry Strangler for several months and I imagine it will be a 14 day lend with no renewal so I will probably read it next.
The next book on my list to read is State Fair
by Earlene Fowler. If you haven't read her mystery stories I recommend you try them. It's a good idea to start with the First book, Fool's Puzzle
and then read them in order. The books progress through the lives of the characters and the life changes they experience. Even though it's set in the Central Coast of California, there is a southern thread running through because the main character's grandmother is southern. I'm excited to read her next story. She writes well and in real life is an incredibly nice woman.

I have time blocked off for it and the new Sookie Stackhouse book. The Benni Harper series is probably my very favorite cozy series. Dove reminds me so much of my Mamaw who passed away a little over 7 years ago at 93. I've had the opportunity to meet Earlene, too, and agree she is a very nice & gracious lady.

I'm still #21 on the list but that isn't too bad, it depends on how many copies the library owns. I agree that Benni is one of my favorites, too. However while I wait for
State Fair I will be picking up The Teaberry Strangler and reading it this weekend.
Right to Remain Silent by Penny Warner. I had read the party planner book by Penny Warner then discovered an earlier series starring a deaf journalist, Connor Westphal. It's a unique series and I love the protagonist, the town and all the characters. Ordered those in the series I didn't have from Amazon so now I get to read them all! Yay!
J.B., Aaron Elkins is our featured author next month. Be sure to stop by and join in our discussions.
WIll do! I don't know how I've missed this author. Isn't it wonderful when you discover a new mystery writer and have a whole new series to look forward to? :)
I have the first book in the Gideon Oliver series but that's it. The library has the rest. I don't know how or why, but the library doesn't have (or lost) the first in the series. So I got it off paperbackswap. I'll borrow the rest to save money but hated to miss the first in the series. I choose Elkins for our featured author next month to give me an excuse to start the series.
Has anyone read the Claire Malloy series by Joan Hess? These will be coming up soon for me. If you have please let me know how the series was for you. Thanks!
Shannon, I have read all of the Claire Malloy books and in my opinion, the books have started losing their likability. The first 4-5 in the series are great, very funny and smart. And the relationship between Claire and her daughter is wonderful and very genuine. Since I have read all of them, I plan on staying with the series, but the last couple have not been up to her usual standard. But, you should definitely read them, and see how they go for you. It's a series that is worth investing some time into.
Shannon wrote: "Has anyone read the Claire Malloy series by Joan Hess? These will be coming up soon for me. If you have please let me know how the series was for you. Thanks!"I have read all of the Claire Malloy series (17 of them to date). I like Claire but then I like almost any bibliomystery and Claire owns a bookstore. Her daughter Caron is kind of a pain but other than that I have enjoyed the series. I like it better than the Maggody series with protagonist Arly Hanks as Police Chief in Maggody Arkansas. Hess also writes another mystery series under then name of Joan Hadley. I have not read that series (there are only two books) with protagonist Theo Bloomer.
Heidi wrote: "I have

Heidi wrote: "I have

I have a question about the Phyllis Richman's Chaz Wheatley series. It seems interesting but why are there only 3 books? Is the series over after the 3 or what happened? I just want to make sure the author ended it and did not just leave the series hanging cus I don't want to even go there if it was left hanging. Thanks!
I'm pretty sure my next cozy will be
, although I have
coming in the mail this week. Decisions decisions!
I just looked at my library account and State Fair is in. Must go get it tomorrow. I have been waiting (and not very patiently either) for this to come in. I love Benni.
Miki wrote: "Next up, since you all really seemed to like it:

Miki I have watched all of the Mystery Women movies and really liked them. They are kind of cheesy, but I recommend them all.
Next up is A Body to Die For by G.A. McKevett. It's one of my favorite series. I'm also patiently waiting for State Fair by Earlene Fowler to show up at my library. I'm number 25 on the list.
