I liked DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE MURDER. Had not planned to reaad this series anymore, but a friend gave me a copy as a gift when I was in the hospital. It was quite a bit better than the couple before it. I still hope she settles the silly "triangle" thing soon, or I will stop reading them!

Well, you know where to go to enter to win a copy. Lol, I'll post when the giveaway goes live in June. Will also have a copy of Unraveled by Maggie Sefton to give away and in another week or so the giveaway will be for one copy of Lost and Fondue by Avery Aames.

Me too, I think that this is a fun series. I am only reading it while on the treadmill at the gym so it may take me a while to get through the series (smile). I love the cover art too!

Tammy Kaehler (tammykaehler) Julia wrote: "Just finished What's a Ghoul to Do and starting Demons are a Ghouls Best Friend, a wonderful series by Victoria Laurie."

I'm glad you mention this is a good series. I got Victoria Laurie's Ghouls, Ghouls, Ghouls in my bag at Malice, and I'd never heard of her, but it's on my TBR pile now. I'm looking forward to it now.

I really like Victoria Laurie's Psychic Eye series. I liked the first couple of M.J. Halliday books, but the one with the ghost witches on flying broomsticks was just too much for me. I read GHOULS, GHOULS, GHOULS but only because it was a gift. Way too over the top for me, but if we all liked the same books things would be pretty boring around here!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I'm a fan of both series by Victoria Laurie (who is the nicest, friendliest person btw) but there were a couple of books in the Psychic Eye series that started to get kind of dark and sad, so for me the Ghost Hunter series was welcome levity with just enough (read: just a little) spine tingle to make it enjoyable and fun.

Tammy Kaehler (tammykaehler) Karen B wrote: "Tammy, what is "malice"? Is it like a convention that you go to?"

Well, I should let others here reply (Caroline, I think, is one of the organizers?), but the Malice Domestic Mystery Convention is an annual convention for writers and readers of mysteries. It's held every May(ish) in Bethesda, MD (or thereabouts). I was able to attend for the first time this year, and had a ball. Anyone else want to chime in or correct me?

message 461: by Robin (new)

Robin Allen Tammy, you're correct. Malice Domestic is a convention that celebrates the traditional mystery. It's the last weekend in April in Bethesda. Website here: http://www.malicedomestic.org/ . They sponsor the Agatha Award.

There's also Bouchercon, which is a much larger convention for all kinds of mysteries. It's in the fall and changes location. This year, it's in September in St. Louis: http://www.bouchercon2011.com/ . They sponsor the Anthony Award.

I am way in the minority on A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness . I really wanted to love it and was sure I would, but I really didn't. It took me forever to get through. Glad you are liking it!

message 470: by Karen B. (new)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 232 comments I have absolutely no idea what will be next. I know I have several cozies on my Kindle now and right now I am trying to focus on Goodreads giveaways. Still reading One Dog Night

One Dog Night (An Andy Carpenter Novel) by David Rosenfelt

and enjoying it. Also at night on the Kindle am reading Babel by Gill James

which is a kind of sci fi book. Had some problems getting it into a readable format but with some help from Goodreads people I got it formatted. I wish I had read the one before it, because a lot of it refers to action happening before Babel begins.

Babel (Peace Child Trilogy) by Gill James

Yep. I'm on the Board of Malice Domestic and I've loved it every year! I've gotten the opportunity to meet so many of my favorite mystery authors. Everyone who registers for Malice (usually before December) can nominate authors for the various categories of the Agatha Awards and all those who attend get to vote so the Agatha Awards are really chosen by readers. : )

I just finished Unraveled (A Knitting Mystery, #9) by Maggie Sefton and am now reading A Pizza To Die For (Pizza Lovers, #3) by Chris Cavender . After that will be Mimosas, Mischief, and Murder (A Mom Zone Mystery #6) by Sara Rosett .
