Does anyone have any suggestions for books that are similar to this book?

Anna I couldn't immediately think of a particular book. Angie: do you have one? Did you find it similar to The Book Thief--Ed and the dad in terms of choosing to follow a path were to me. Both could have ignored the situation, but didn't.

Well I find the writing similar to the Book Thief. I am the messenger seemed like a YA mystery to me. And I haven't read a lot of YA mystery books yet.

Anna I haven't read it and it is more tween, but Chasing Vermeer (one of my daughter's favs) is a mystery.

Anna Are the 39 Clues books mysteries? I bought one at a Scholastic Warehouse sale--my daughter has already taken it and added it to her TBR pile!

Good suggestion! I haven't read the Nancy Drew series. I know they are older books but I wonder if they are similar.

Celestasaurus 13 Little Blue Envelopes is similar in that the main character receives assignments, but the overall plot is totally different. I can't really think of anything close to I Am the Messenger, though.

So as far as mysteries goes... I am currently reading a little mystery book called Scat by Carl Hiaasen. It is a great little mystery. Plus I know he has two other books I have not read... Hoot and Flush. I am not sure if those are mysteries but I am going to read those also.

No, not really. The Nancy Drew series gets rather repetitive after you have read a couple of them. It is really predictable after a while, and I don't think it's quite YA-lover material :)

Anna, I read Chasing Vermeer a couple of years ago: it was pretty cool. I don't really remember the plot, just that the connections were amazing.
