With his free hand Damien intertwined his fingers with Kaelan's. "Let's go, then. I'll get you out of here. Okay?" His voice was reassuring and uncharacteristically soft. Careful not to step on the man blocking the way, he led the two of them down the stairs.
Kaelan felt Damien take her hand, and helped her to her feet. She was almost immobile, but with his guidance, she could do her best to follow his hand. This was a completely different Damien than to the one Kaelan had witnessed before- he was sweet, caring and gentle, and she wondered if he let people see that side of him often and why he hid it. She gulped as they stepped over the body, her heart seizing up again. Kaelan doubted she would ever get over the terrifying event, but somehow Damien's presence comforted her, promised her that things would be okay. His words barely got through to her, but she allowed him to lead her out of his house. "W-where are we going?" She stuttered, not wanting to remove her hand from his. She was in a state of fragility, and the only thing seemingly holding her on the brink of sanity was Damien himself. Her skin against his was a warm action, and she wasn't going to let go unless he wanted her too.

Before Kaelan knew it, Damien was gently pushing her into a soft, cushioned seat and she forced her ears to listen to his words. A horrified expression passed over her delicate features when he implied the fighting may not be over, and Kaelan bit her lip. She had to be strong- to be brave. With a little nod, she knew her gesture was a lie. Damien had saved her life today, and she wasn't going to run out on him. She would never forgive herself if he got hurt. Kaelan wrapped her arms around her legs that were now tucked under her chin, amber eyes gazing up at Damien. He looked like an avenging angel- or James Bond. Either way, he looked really sexy- Kaelan! She scolded herself for letting her thoughts stray in such a drastic moment, and she averted her eyes, a light blush creeping up her cheeks. The situation they were currently in flooded back into her mind, washing all coherent thoughts of Damien from her head and a nervous flicker appeared in her eyes, but nothing compared to the expression she had worn upstairs. As she watched Damien go, Kaelan left the seat and tiptoed around the corner, pressing herself up against the wall so she could see him clearly, without herself being so obvious.

Kaelan's sigh of relief escaped her lips as the open door revealed a acne-spotted pizza boy. Damien and him exchanged few words, before he grabbed the pizza and turned to go and check on her. Check on me. Kaelan darted from her post and scrambled through the kitchen back to her seat, where she resumed her original position before Damien came in with the pizza. Eyeing the delightful food, she could literally hear her stomach growling and blushed. That was very unlady-like, even though she was hardly a lady. Following him into the kitchen, Damien placed the pizza box on the counter and Kaelan sheepishly glanced at the lid, her eyes devouring the box in itself.

Noticing the hungry eyes -- for the food and not for something else -- of the girl before him, Damien placed the box of pizza on top of the table and immediately untied the straw string securing the contents inside. "Go on. You're probably starving," he urged. "How do you feel?" He didn't know how to assist or entertain a guest for the life of him; Damien was never hospitable to people. Or rather, he just didn't want to show it. Hiding things was his expertise, showing them would be a hard feat for him. The former was the main reason why he was able to keep other people from getting hurt. It was for their own benefit, and for him as well. The guilt of causing harm to them would slowly kill him, eat the remaining conscience deep within him. Damien must be known as the campus heartbreaker, but this... this was never in his plan.

"Thank you," Kaelan breathed, sliding a piece of the pizza out of the box and allowed it to hover in her fingers, her salivary glands watering like crazy. At his words, her amber hued oculars flicked to his oceanic ones, and she placed the pizza slice down, all thoughts of famine incoherent. "I'm scared. Confused. Emotionally wrecked. But... thank you." She smiled, knowing exactly what she wanted to thank him for. Damien obviously kept people at an arms length, for good reasons as she had witnessed today, but he was a good person. She saw it in his eyes when he attacked the man groping her, and she could still see hints of it behind the steel wall he keeps around his heart and being. Damien may act like a jerk, but Kaelan had seen who he truly was and actually liked him for it. Picking up the pizza again, she took a huge bite and let slip a small groan from the greasy deliciousness of the junk food.

Kaelan felt her body being cradled in muscular arms, and she felt... safe. In his arms, she felt better, even if he was a drug dealer. Not wanting to thing about any of the complications, she buried her head into Damien's chest so his scent overwhelmed her senses, bringing on a sense of comfort. Kaelan was a little scared when Damien pulled away, but her stuttering heart slowed into an average pace, his oculars delving into her own. His question was crystal clear, and she knew right away that even though she knew absolutely nothing about this boy, she could trust him. She could see in his eyes that he did care, no matter what attitude he outwardly displayed. Wide eyed, Kaelan nodded briskly. It was the truth- in his arms, she felt like even an army couldn't get to her. "I d-do." She whispered, biting her lip hesitantly. Every fiber of her being was telling her to look around and focus on the soulless body she had destroyed, but she knew that if she did, she may not ever recover. Hell, she wasn't going to ever recover as it was. Kaelan removed one hand from Damien's chest to wipe a tear from under her eye, and looked up once again into his.
