Would you like to rant on line? If you would Box 010 is the blogspot for you.
I've read a few of these. Brilliant, they are! No idea why I've channelled Yoda, I have...Anyway....
Yeah, I'm gonna move this up to the top of the group for a few days. I do suggest adding it to your update feed.
Fun stuff!
Cool! Thanks Patti, hopefully I have successfully added it to my feed. Will's results will be out tomorrow or Thursday...Cheers
MTM
Erm.I didn't mean just your update feed. I meant everyone's!
I reckon this is the Thread To Watch.
No pressure there, Will.
Heeheeheehee
Doh! I think Will excelled himself so we're probably OK. There are some real purlers in there though. Definitely worth spooling through. Off to bed now. ;-) Knackered.Cheers
MTM
Oh. Was just about to smack you over the head this thread link. No need then. How disappointing.Edit to add...
I meant I was going to message Will with the link to the thread but he found it himself.
Sometimes my posts only make sense in my own head...
Thanks for looking and voting everyone. As a result of your fine efforts the MTM blog had its busiest day ever yesterday. Nice!Cheers

Excellent!
Thank you everyone who voted. The results are now up... a slight cheat in that I forgot to close the poll and someone voted in the interim and after I'd posted it I realised that Drum n Bass has dropped below 20% but only by 7%. Apologies to the last voter, though. It's still going in. If only because now I'm stuck in Box 010 with my Lawyer husband I'm going to be so bored that even Drum n Bass will be interesting.
Cheers

Yo peps... due to a massive balls up on my part, Lynda's spot is not next week but the week after, this week David Haywood Young is begging you, in an amusing fashion, to hurl his five most hated items into infinity. Here's the link! ;-) http://mtmcguire.co.uk/2013/07/03/box...

id shove this to the top of the group if i could. but i can't from my phone. mither Simon to do it please
I've only just spotted that you featured me last week, M.T. I thought it was going to be this coming week. Honestly! I think I've reached the age where time goes by so fast the Chancellor's put a bloody tax on it.Anyway, thanks for letting me rant about TV chefs, Council speak, mobile phones and chilli-with-everything on your blog. And I hope plenty of people have voted.
Cheers!
It was brilliant, sorry I didn't tip you off. I've been a bit off the radar... end of term, everything manic and I've put my knee out. I hope I've managed to drum up some votes though...Cheers
MTM
Thanks M.T. I've encouraged a few people to visit and vote and no arms were twisted in the process. Well, OK, maybe one.Sorry to hear about the knee. Is it like putting the cat out? Does your knee disappear until morning, doing unspeakable things in a neighbour's garden? And is this as a result of, or further to, coming off the bike? I hope it's feeling better soon. (Tip: try giving it a saucer of milk. ;))
I wish it was like putting the cat out... it's like walking around on a giant pair of Ludlows, like having stacked telephone directories for legs... both knees hurt (one was knackered already) and they're all swollen so I can't always feel anything. However on a happier note Lynda, you got a stonking 3 items in!
Here are the results...

Nice going!
There will now be a slight hiatus as I turn into Mumzilla for 7 weeks. Box 010 will be back in September. Unless I chuck a random one in but that's unlikely... unless I've promised anyone and forgotten in which case do get in touch.
Cheers
MTM
OK, so I lied about the hiatus, we have a new vic- er hem, guest on Box 010 this week, Michael Cargill. He's definitely delivered the goods. You can read his rant here.http://mtmcguire.co.uk/2013/08/07/box...

Brilliant as ever. Voted for audiophiles on behalf of my uncle who's just spent over £500 on a wooden box of valves.
Patti (Baku Bound) wrote: "Dave's got that beat. Man, has he got that beat."
Tell him I've got a £35 Bush turntable. He's bound to be impressed by that.
Patti (Baku Bound) wrote: "He sez he paid £200 for his Thorens turntable. In 1980 ish.
It's here under the spare bed. Ich."
Tell Dave I sold my Linn turntable, years back, and now wish I hadn't.
Dave also has hundreds of very well travelled albums. His turntable has needed a new rubber band for years. I even posted a thread about it in here at one point.Almost convinced him to sell the lot.
That didn't work.
Oh well.
He also has a shed load of comics.
The rest of my system never matched the Linn anyway. I got it cheap of an audiophile mate. I still have the rest of my system though.Monitor audio speakers
Marantz cd player
Onkyo AV amp
You might guess I didn't vote audiophile. Nor asparagus, which along with other food I really like. Consequently, as what goes in must come out, I didn't vote poo either.
My husband has a Lynn turntable, speakers he got off ebay, gold plated plugs, an arcam CD player, some hyper whizzy amp... most of it was from car boots, kind friends who'd upgraded etc. It's all way over my head. All I know is that....1. It sounds nice.
2. Even though it's about 10 years old it is marked out as expensive because it has blue LEDs on it despite coming from an era when normal stereos had only red or green.
Cheers

Steady on Patti! Thanks! The alerts on this thread have stopped working now. Lucky I popped in. I'd just like to thank everyone who has looked at Michael Cargill's Box 010. The site had a whopping 48 hits that day, smashing the previous record for enormous, pipe cracking site traffic (phnark I can dream).
So thank you everyone... and very much thank you Patti. ;-)
Cheers

Anyone can do it, but it would probably be useful, as well, if you have a blog/website/book to promote. You are allowed all 3.
The basic premise is that a guest turns up each week and tries to persuade my tens of readers to expunge five items from existence by voting to put them into Box 010.
Obviously this is in no way based on the popular BBC Radio and TV Programme, Room 101, oh no sireee.
Where was I? Ah yes, so the participant gives me a short biog, a book title and blurb/blog/review site or whatever, and 100 words or thereabouts, on their five pet hates. Don't worry, you won't be duplicating anything, I'll send you a list of everything that's already gone in. Then I give links to the participant's author pages, blog, review site or whatever they want me to plug. Authors you can post the blurb for one book at the bottom if you particularly want to showcase something.
Then we wait a week while the viewers vote and I post the results.
To give you an idea of what I mean, here's Will Macmillan Jones' post from last week. http://mtmcguire.co.uk/2013/06/20/box...
Yes, we're only at person seven so now's your chance to get in early.
You can read all the posts so far, and the results, here http://mtmcguire.co.uk/category/box-010/
So, there it is, Box 010. If anyone's interested in having a go, just bung me a PM. I'll post each new one up here as we go... or wherever Patti ends up putting this.
Cheers
