Should I buy the Nook HD now that it's $129? BN Ereader Shutdown Rumors

I got an email yesterday that they had a big sale on romance, mystery and historical books for under $3, don't know if it's still going on.

They let you use your membership to get a discount on the e-reader once. The e-books they don't. At least that's my understanding, and they stopped doing that last year or the year before.

I have an Asus tablet, which is roughly 3/4 of a year older than my Nook HD+. I like them both, but find myself reaching for the Nook more often than the Asus Transformer Prime.

Service in the stores is excellent; I have two that are just a short drive from where I live.
That said, I've never had trouble with phone service either. I know that there are multiple reports of phone service fails, but seriously, think of all the people who DON'T report of when phone service went well. Our society is quick to complain, but slow to praise.

The USB cable is unique and unreliable.I have been having trouble since the first day to charge the battery of the Nook.
I live in P R and there are no Barnes and Noble here. I wrote them about the cable a month ago but they have not responded .
Otherwise the size is good the picture resolution excellent .Since i originally
bought it for reading I am back to my inexpesive black and white Kindle which came with 3 G access to internet and downloading books from Amazon

I don't think that's entirely true, because companies have good reputations as well as bad ones.
In my case, every single time I've needed customer service it's been lousy. If it were one or two times, with otherwise good service to balance it, that would be a different story. Every time tells its own tale.

Regarding the service issues, I've always had fantastic service from B&N in-store. Online support has been a mixed bag, in my experience.

I tried getting the kindle app without any luck. How did you do it? I have the new HD

I'll give it a shot. I have the kindle app on my computer and have an account.

I'm not sure how to do that.

I purchased a book for $9.99 and a few days later it was on sale for $1.99. I called customer service to see if I could get a credit adjustment. The CS rep was sympathetic but she couldn't give me the adjustment. If it was a paper book she could.
I often wonder why B&N won't let customer use the Reader Membership discount on Nook products. When I bought my ST the store actually let me use it. I think it was because they were next door to a Best Buy and needed an edge. I was pleasantly surprised.
