No need to apologize! We're just glad you're back and getting into the swing of things again.

message 1702: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you Gregor. I feel like it's a big coming home party. Really good for the spirit. I've been quite depressed with the constant pain. This makes me really happy to be back.

message 1703: by [deleted user] (new)

Goodnight everyone. Back can't take it anymore tonight. Unfortunately, I still need the painkillers sometimes and it's that time. Talk with everyone tomorrow. Happy to be back!!

message 1704: by Angie (new)

message 1706: by [deleted user] (new)

Cindy, so glad that you're back!! What an ordeal you've been through! I hope you get some good pain control and can start reading again.

Sam Arnold (samharnold) Welcome back Cindy look after yourself.

☆Joycedale☆ | 307 comments Hi Cindy! I hope you get back to 100% soon

message 1709: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Happy to see you again, Cindy! I, too, had concrete put in 3 vertebrae and the surgeon made a whoopsie and failed to see the other 4 that were broken when he looked at the MRI. woah. Clunky sentence, sorry.

So now I still have to wear a gigantic brace until the end of March. I know how you feel, and again it is great to see you.

message 1710: by Kate (new)

Kate Good to see you back, Cindy. Sorry to hear about your health issues, I hope you're resting up and healing. :)

message 1711: by [deleted user] (new)

Getting ready to eat a bite and try to read. Been a little rough today.

message 1712: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Just trying to get a little writing in after scoffing at our overzealous weather "team" here. They sure all worked up over the possibility of some light sleet. My daughgter is pissed because every county surroundig us has closed schools tomorrow, but ours are staying open. Poor thing wants a snkw day so bad.

message 1713: by Sam (new)

Sam Arnold (samharnold) 22:32 UK
Am trying hard to resist the urge to start Insurgent early and am losing the battle slowly. Have some great reads lined up for February so can't wait to get to the beginning of the month. It has now rained in the UK everyday this year long for a brighter day.

message 1714: by Angie (last edited Jan 30, 2014 03:20PM) (new)

Angie | 623 comments It has rained everyday. I'm sick of it as well Sam. Do you live in a flood area? I'm lucky that I don't. I'm sat munching on Millie's cookies trying to get my cat to move of my feet. I'm looking forward to starting Drood, I hope its as good as the other Dan Simmons book I've read.

Poor kid Adam, bet you're glad you don't get all the snow! I can't believe how cold it gets for some of you guys.

message 1715: by [deleted user] (new)

I was watching about all the flooding in the UK on BBC news today. It seems like your government was a bit slow to help or send in the military. Sorry you guys are going through this.

message 1716: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments Its been really bad Cindy. On Christmas a whole village was flooded out and they didn't get help for ages, they were left with no power or anything. I count myself lucky that I don't live in a flood area.

message 1717: by [deleted user] (new)

That is really sad. At least the military is there now. Whatever good it will do.

message 1718: by [deleted user] (new)

Going to the bedroom so I will actually read a bit instead of going through all the GR's posts. I will be checking in about once an hour to keep up on new posts. Good readings everyone!

message 1719: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I'm just going to sleep as its 2pm and I'm sooo tired. So good night everyone and I'll be back on tomorrow:)

message 1720: by Scott (new)

Scott WELCOME BACK CINDY! Sending good thoughts, laughs and pain free minutes your way!

As for the thread...putting down Wolf Hall...a treasure so far and cueing up Sherlock...season 2 ep 2....love it.

message 1721: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Scott! Glad to be back for sure. Just sorry I was able to catch up on all the posts. I was able to read some of them.

message 1722: by [deleted user] (new)

Having a bit of trouble concentrating tonight for some reason. Guess it will just take a week or so to get back into the habit. I haven't been able to read for a while.

message 1723: by [deleted user] (new)

Had all the fun I can take for one night. Going to bed so I can get up in the morning and start putting in resumes. Goodnight everyone!

message 1724: by [deleted user] (new)

Just dropping in for a minute tonight. Drove today and it about killed me. Probably call it an early night. Hope everyone had a decent day.

message 1725: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments Have a good sleep Cindy and I'll speak to you more tomorrow;-)

message 1726: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments Found that I had money in my PayPal account I wasn't aware of, so what did I do? Order books of course! I got Every Dead Thing, Necroscope, and Dagon. I also ordered some books from Bandit on HA. You all shud check it out. Great deals!

message 1727: by [deleted user] (new)

Have some running to do today, so I put up the new monthly reads on the home page for now. I'm gonna stop by the library and see if I can get either one of the monthly reads books. Probably won't be able to do both, but should be able to get at least one in. I also set my challenge really low this year. With all the junk that's been going on in my life, I figured that would be a safer bet and then I can always up the challenge.

message 1728: by [deleted user] (new)

So I'm gonna sign off GR's for now or I'll never get any reading done. Talk to everyone tomorrow. Have to get up early and brush up my resume. Have a friend who has some pull at a temp agency. Fingers crossed with a positive attitude!

message 1729: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments Hope you're having some luck with the temping agency Cindy. I'm about to start Blood Meridian, and I'm really looking forward to it.

message 1730: by [deleted user] (new)

Put in my resume with the temp agency my friend works at and I'm gonna get up early in the morning to put in more applications. At this point, I don't care if I have to clean septic tanks. I just need a job.

message 1731: by [deleted user] (new)

I am ABSOLUTELY OVER the job applications/resume submissions for one day. Totally stressed now.

message 1732: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments I officially lost my job today. They are apparently intolerant of debilitating injuries and would not approve a leave of abscence after 3 years of service. Have been receiving short term disability benefits so far, and those will likely continue for another month, so my quest now is to discover whether I am eligible for unemployment along with the disability. There is always a chance I can be denied for the extension of benefits, too. I am expecting a call from the plan administrator tomorrow. Tonight, the water pump went out in our car, and we can't fix it yet, so the desperation of the current situation is compounded once more.

message 1733: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh Adam! Wish we had the funds to start our own business. We could say to hell with them and would make kick ass business partners. Oh well, wishful thinking. Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

message 1734: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Thanks, Cindy. The repercussions of these injuries we have seem to grow exponentially worse. Hey every day above ground is a good one, right?

message 1735: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm starting to wonder Adam. Have been so depressed over this crap that I told Jeff I just want to go to sleep and never wake up again.

message 1736: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments Sorry to hear that guys. I too have not been very successful at finding a job:( It sucks...royally.

message 1737: by ☆Joycedale☆ (new)

☆Joycedale☆ | 307 comments Isn't that illegal for them to do that Adam?

message 1738: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't realize you were looking for a job also Addy. I'm sorry. Guess I've had my head stuck so far up my own butt that I have failed to notice the things other people are going through. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers also.

message 1739: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments Thank you Cindy. I appreciate it and will keep you and Adam in my thoughts and prayers as well:) We need it.

message 1740: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, we do! And there is power in numbers, so maybe between all of us, some luck will come our way.

message 1741: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments Its really bad you don't get disability along with unemployment, I mean how can you guys properly hold down job when you've only just broke your backs! The stress of job hunts whilst still in so much pain must be making it worse. My thoughts are with you both at this time. Shouldn't you be able to get unemployment Adam, I mean you broke your back. Its not like you're faking an illness. Starting your on business sounds ideal. If you could what would you do?

message 1742: by ☆Joycedale☆ (new)

☆Joycedale☆ | 307 comments I'm getting really fed up with my school district. They cancelled because there's expected snow.

message 1743: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments Addy wrote: "Sorry to hear that guys. I too have not been very successful at finding a job:( It sucks...royally."

I didn't know you were also looking for work either Addy. I wish you luck in your job hunt. I thought it would be illegal to sack you as well Adam. Is there not some advice you could get for this situation?

There isn't much work in the UK either. My youngest son is looking for work as well and finding it hard to make ends meet. He's moving back in with me for now, its just a good job I've got a small spare room.

Angie | 623 comments ★Joycedale★ wrote: "I'm getting really fed up with my school district. They cancelled because there's expected snow."

Hasn't the school been closed due to snow a lot of weeks Joycedale. I know that it was closed from thanksgiving for a long time. But to not open because of a threat of snow seems like its going to far!

Yea they've been closing a lot for snow even days that didn't need it, but I think they actually called it right this time. We've gotten probably 4 inches since 8:30am and on the radio they just said the interstate about 10 miles from me has a pileup involving 4 semi's.

message 1746: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments We've just had rain and more rain. So many places have been flooded but luckily not me. But I haven't had any snow yet. How long to you think the school will be closed for this time?

message 1747: by ☆Joycedale☆ (new)

☆Joycedale☆ | 307 comments Well it quit snowing so I'm hoping today and tomorrow is all they miss

message 1748: by [deleted user] (new)

Sorry folks, been extremely busy the last couple of days. Have not disappeared. Promise. I have a job interview tomorrow, so I will not be online tonight, but I will be online tomorrow night.

message 1749: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Good luck on the interview, Cindy!

message 1750: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments Yes,good luck with the interview:-) I think by the time you get this you my of already been. I'm sat in my living room with Paul on the TV. Nick my youngest has moved back in now. It will save him some cash and hopefully fingers crossed, hell be back in work soon.
