Cool. I'll have to check Thor 2 out. The first one was pretty good. Eyes too scratchy to read or write, so we're settled in with THE LOST BOYS tonight. Haven't seen it in ages. Good old cheesy fun. I remember trying to sneak into the theater to see this with Adam when it first hit theaters. I think I was 15 and he was 12. We got kicked out and had to settle for THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS.

Good times. I thought we went to see House 2 that day. Both of them sucked.

message 1353: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Oh yeah, you're right! I guess we tried a couple times that week. House 1,now that's a movie I haven't seen in 20 years or more. My guess would be it hasn't aged well.

message 1354: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments I don't know. I have it queued up on Netflix, but Jen and I watched Carrie today - her first time seeing it - and that might be too much of the Greatest American Hero for one day.

message 1355: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Is the same guy in Carrie?

message 1356: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Yeah. I was shocked at the cast of Carrie. I had not seen it in many moons. Forgot John Travolta was in it, too. William Katt plays the sucker that takes Carrie to the prom.

I remembered The Lost Boys being a pretty good movie, but Emily watched it with Aunt Sarah and she totally panned it.
I might have to check it out again sometime.

Evans Light (evanslight) LOST BOYS really isn't that great of a movie, but the nostalgia factor is pretty high.

I have occasional bouts of nostalgic movie binging. I almost always regret them, but I don't think I will ever learn.

Spending some time reading and doing some housework. I must be ADHD or something because I absolutely cannot stay focused over about 30-40 pages without taking a break from reading. Think I have found my niche now. I just read until I can't focus and then do a little housework. It worked really well for me yesterday. I managed to read almost 200 pages. I was trying to force myself to stay with it and that didn't work very well. I would forget important parts and take an hour to read 20 pages. This seems to work a little better. Hope everyone has a fantastic day. It's supposed to get really cold here starting Tuesday.

I've had a bit of a nostalgic month, I've watched all the Freddy films, 8 hellraiser, 3 lost boys and 5 postmaster, it's been whilst I've been reading but most of them just aren't very good,!!!

message 1365: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments That's really cool misty!! Out of all that I watched the Freddy films were the best except for the second. I don't know what went wrong with it!' At the moment I've got breaking bad on, the last episode of s2. I always read or have my kindle on when the tv is on as I'm never that interested in it. It's also nicks birthday today, he's 28 so we're going out later for dinner.

Where did u get them? I would love to have some. Growing up that was my fav movies series. I started watching them when I was 8. Even got my aunt to take me to the theater for one.

I'm reading Opal. A friend sent me the Lux series friday night and I'm on the forth one now. I can't believe how into these ya books I get lol. Must be my inner teenage outcast.

Angie | 623 comments I've got season 3 of The Walking Dead on trying to catch up, I'm at the half way point now, and I've actually seen it so I can start s. 4

message 1369: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Angie, I heard the two new Lost Boys sequels were nothing like the old one. What did you think? Worth watching?
I thought Hellraiser was pretty much done after the second one, there might have been one other that I thought was kind of okay.
Love Freddy movies, though I haven't watched any for awhile. I thought part two got better in comparison to parts five and six. The new nightmare was excellent when it came out, but hasn't aged well. I enjoyed Freddy vs Jason when it was released, but haven't seen it since. Wonder how time has treated it?

message 1370: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I enjoyed watching the 1st lost boys but 2&3 are terrible, they just don't have anything in them to make them special. With the Hellraiser films, all 8 of them, I found the first to be interesting with the the practical effects but it wasn't scary like I remembered it to be, the other 7 of them, well they don't get any better, although I liked finding out who pinhead was.

And the Freddy films, they are the best of them all, I've got them on DVD, and the 1st has commentaries with Wes craven and some of the girls. It was good listening to that, apparently Wes Craven has got the scariest garage anywhere filled with lots of stuff from the film's including Freddy' s glove! I even still liked the Freddy v Jason film for it amusement factor.

I also watched the puppet masters but they were just daft. I got the idea to rewatch all these films of someone who said they do this through October to celebrate Halloween, it sounded like a good idea, and I've enjoyed doing it the only ones I've missed have been the Friday the 13th films as I ran out of time!

The Mole People figure is awesome! I have a small collection of Universal horror movie figures as those are some of my favorite movies, and I have one of the Mole people figures, but it's pretty much gray and dark gray!

If I had all the Universal Monster figures I'd play Monster Squad...all...day.

message 1374: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) There's some cool new universal monster figures released this week. More obscure ones. I saw The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Mr. Hyde, too.

I refused to have any dolls when I was small, because mine would be able to hide under the bed and get me! Or in the wardrobe, in the corners ...

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments I think I need to start a discussion on bizarre things our elders say (i.e., my grandmother in the nursing home). I was out there last night. Whereas her last roommate was constantly pulling Grandma's toe all night long so she couldn't sleep, this new roommate of 3 days has friends and relatives staying overnight all the time, and Grandma can't even turn over in bed because they're all over the place. (She has macular degeneration and glaucoma, so she is practically blind - some of the stuff she tells me she sees is absolutely incredible!)

Anyway, at work now, but I keep thinking back to last evening, visiting her at the home, and I figured I'd share!

Evans Light (evanslight) After a bit of a dry spell on the thrift store / USB front, I stumbled into a batch of bargain priced rarities today!

Phobias Stories of Your Deepest Fears by Martin H. Greenberg
Phobias: Stories of Your Deepest Fears

Shock Rock, Volume I by Jeff Gelb
Shock Rock, Volume I

The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror 20 by Stephen Jones
The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror 20

Stranger Dark Tales of Eerie Encounters by Michele B. Slung
Stranger: Dark Tales of Eerie Encounters

and

The Dark New Ghost Stories by Ellen Datlow
The Dark: New Ghost Stories

Not bad for an average couple bucks each! Best New Horror books typically run $6 or more each whenever I see them, which isn't ofter, so this is the first I've added to my collection.

The first two look like a lot of campy 80's fun as well.
