Angie | 623 comments It sounds like you're already turning the creepy spiders into a book Evans. At the house l moved from I had 3 huge ant nests in the walls. When they first got into the house I didn't know what they were.

Ants should be tiny, these were up to a centimetre and they had wings. They were even in my bed. I had to get my son round and he told me they were ants. After two summer's of this I moved.

Then perhaps he needs to switch body sprays.

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments My wife and daughter are horrified of these things. I didn't watch the show with them, so everything is cool. Gregor, that may be the most rational thing you have said to me. Attack their food source! Of course, they tried that is on the show and it proved futile. but I haven't given up. Oh, and my new short story ia going to be called EVANS GETS EATEN BY SPIDERS.

That's fine, Adam, but write it fast because here's a picture from the future of you waking up tomorrow morning:

Rick Shepard So Adam...it sounds like it's time to go old school on the spider problem. Have you tried sacrificing a goat? I mean it's a little unorthodox, but probably cheaper than an exterminator.

message 1207: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments I'm pretty sure we have to go the lamb route. I looked into Satanic rituals and what not. All of them seemed to want the female sheep. I think I know why... they say they will also take Evans, so I can't lose.

Wow. You just really screwed yourself with that last statement, Mr. Funnyguy.

I was going to get you this for Christmas, (view spoiler)

It's llama-related.

Commence weeping.

message 1213: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC Use fire ant killer, Adam. Put it outside around the perimeter of your home and wet it down and it will kill the shit out of 'em.

I bet; I saw the previews and it looked really good.

Angie | 623 comments I've got the zombie film Fido on and after lots of collered zombies the free ones a taking over the town.

Are fire ants those big ones that were in Indy 4?

message 1216: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments Just sitting reading with a little space heater next to me because I don't want to turn the heat on and smelling a very fragrant scentsy candle:) Nice nite to get my read on as I've been lacking lately. Happy reading everyone!

message 1217: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments Yes I'm obsessed! I found blood crazy and salems lot for a buck!

message 1218: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm sitting at home, drinking coffee, and reading. Need to go somewhere in about an hour. I've had a good weekend although I had to work yesterday. Watching this Dallas/Phil game and laughing my ass off on some of the plays, calls, and challenges. Definitely one to remember.

message 1219: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Panthers game today was like a hockey match. Fighting after almost every play during the second half. ADDY, what is blood crazy? I want to revisit Salem's Lot sometime.

Never saw it, but I doubt it; fire ants aren't big at all. They're just relentless as hell.

message 1222: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments You had it right to miss it, it was really crap. But in one seen all these red ants, maybe they were ants, swarmed over this man and ate him.

message 1223: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments I'll take our wolf spiders over those ants, Angie.

message 1224: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I don't know Adam , spiders that bite or ants that eat you. Are your spiders the kind that lay baby spiders in you, then they all come running out of you. I saw that on tv.

message 1225: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments I'm pretty sure they sleep in your mouth at night, and they carry their young on their backs. So sometimes when you smash one you get about fifty babies skittering off in all directions. I don't think they give birth inside you, though.

message 1226: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I just looked and it says they don't,lol. But some bug in Africa does do it and you get a grub growing in your skin. Nasty.

message 1230: by [deleted user] (new)

I am watching The Voice and reading. I can't stay up much longer because I have to take the grandbaby to daycare in the morning. Must get up no later than 4:30 a.m. (yuck that sounds horrible).

Angie | 623 comments Having to get up so early. I remember having to do that! It's nearly 2.30 in the UK so I'm going to have to sleep soon.

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments Just got everything unpacked in my room in Tampa. Got 3 days of Ops Mgr conference ahead of me. Going to take a nap now, though. I didn't sleep well - my mind kept going over everything I needed to bring, but I think I packed it all.

message 1233: by [deleted user] (new)

I was eating dinner and turned on the tube just to have something to watch while I ate and found Flowers in the Attic on a local channel. I must watch this now that I've read the first book in the series.

message 1234: by Scott (new)

Scott Cindy...it's not a great adaptation...but if you think of it as a lifetime movie...it's kind of fun. Hell, Louise Fletcher is worth it alone.

I read the three books when I was at school, so many years ago, I went to an all girls school and I think most of us read them. But I never knew it was adaptated for tv.

Thanks Scott. We turned it on about 45 minutes ago and it was into the movie already. Just went off, but I thoroughly enjoyed the part we watched.

message 1237: by [deleted user] (new)

OK, it's looking like it's gonna be a TV night. Found Biggest Loser on and The Voice comes on right after that. Then I need to go to bed. 4:30 a.m. again in the morning. Talk to everyone tomorrow.

I bought the second book but haven't read it yet Angie. I must read this soon now.

message 1239: by Scott (new)

Scott Angie...lol...same here...these books wete the rage when I was in jr. high...and while the author sometimes gets slammed...I thought they were like candy. AND...they only made the first film...it actually came out in theatres..but didnt do so well...acting is pretty bad in mother and daughter role. Mother is Steve Martins wife...she was never a good actress...but its fun for the nostalgia of it all.

message 1245: by Evans (new)

Scott, IKEA is a four letter word for a reason! :-) I'm suffering.

☆Joycedale☆ | 307 comments Lol I've never bought anything from there, is it that bad?

message 1248: by Scott (new)

Scott angie...a fun and inexpensive way is to mount the bottom of a black metal bookend to the wall...with the vertical end sticking out. Slip the end of it in the middle of the book, with book spine sticking out horizontally...with a rubber band or tie holding the book closed. Then you can stack books upwards. Its an easy idea...you can mount them at different levels...varying the height of the stacks...and it ends up being wall art.

message 1249: by Scott (new)

Scott You can also take old window shutters...inexpensive at salvage yard... mount away from the wall with wooden blocks and break out some of the slats....slide books down over the remaining slats...it essentially becomes something to the old hanging newspaper, magazine racks in libraries.
