I'll keep my fingers crossed that the damage isn't too bad.
Well I have just watched the new Alex Cross film. I am unsure whether you can call it book adaptation as it bears no resemblance to anything I have ever read with Alex Cross in it. The film appears to be the prequel to the novels. in them his wife is alive and well. It states that it is based on the novel Cross and I have to admit I can't remember the book clearly enough to comment. I have to say that the similarities to the books are as follows:
1) The main character is called Alex Cross and he is very tall
2) There is a character called Nanna Momma
I am afraid that is it. They even saw the need to change his best friends name from John Sampson to Tommy. Even as a film in its own right it is not amazing although a sterling performance from Matthew Fox makes the film worth a viewing. Altogether I was very disappointed by this film. Bring back Morgan Freeman he might have been too old for Alex Cross but at least his portrayal was accurate.

He says that the offices are ok and most of the building but everything in the shop is ruined. Its going to be a least a week before they start fixing the building so it can dry out and who knows how long to replace the machines. All the pallets that were done are ruined, there was supposed to be 2 trucks in friday to pick them up and neither one showed. So all this weeks work was shot. So they're looking at least a month before they're up and running again

I totally agree on the escapism thing Chuck, but lately it's been an effort to do that. I am back after a brief visit to the local nut ward. Wish I wouldn't have went. Never once did I talk to a therapist or participate in a group. NOTHING, just put on medication.

Hmmm... I won't do group and I won't take antidepressants but I would go for some good psychotherapy if I were to ever find a good therapist I actually liked talking to...

Just got home and took my meds which make me sleepy. I am just so grateful they put me on something that not only works as an anti-depressant, but a pain killer. I actually slept last night without waking up every two hours in pain. I never realized that some anti-depressants are used for pain also. Weird, but I'm not complaining. Plan to read until I get sleepy. Had a much better day today.
Anybody ever read anything by Allan Watts?
Cindy I'm on antidepressants that are used as pain killers, it was weird at first but I'm used to it now. Hope you're feeling better soon.I've never heard of Alan Watts, what kind of books does he write?

Aren't Frute Brute and Yummy Mummy made by the same people who made Count Chocula and Frankenberry? I remember those from 40 years ago! I remember you used to be able to send in for posters you could color, along with special markers. FB and YM sound familiar.
I think Alan Watts was popular back when Carlos Castenada was big. I never read anything by him, but his books look really interesting. I think Fritjof Capra talks a little about him in The Tao of Physics.
Rick, yes those cereals are part of the Count Chocula line. Those two cereals are available for the first time this year in decades.
So glad I'm raising responsible kids. My 5 yr old wakes me up wanting breakfast and I had over slept by an hr. So I jumped up so I can drive kids to school and they had gotten dressed and caught the bus. Kind of afraid to see what my 7 yr old is wearing because he has a very unique style.,
An acquaintance of mine who is a nurse told me once that she had fallen asleep after third shift and didn't wake up in time to take her seven year old to school. After waking up around nine or ten she found the child was missing from the house and the front door unlocked. There was no school bus, so she had no idea where the child was. She panicked and called the school and it turned out her child was there. He had felt sorry for his mom and didn't want to wake her, so he went and knocked on the neighbors door and asked them if they would give him a ride. Talk about a scary morning.

Nice one. Too early here. I made the mistake of carving one two weeks early one year and it was a pile of stinking goo by the time Halloween rolled around.
Had a good day but I'm really tired. Went back to work and was pleasantly surprised. Lots of people made comments to the effect that they are glad I'm back because the other guards are slow. Made me feel good anyway. I came home from work and started cleaning the house for three hours straight. My body is saying STOP NOW. I'm just gonna chill and maybe visit a friend in a little while. Hope everyone is having a great day!
Might read for an hour or so, but I'm pretty tired. We will see how it goes. Got home a little later than I expected, but had a good time tonight.

Even though Cindy says I'm the luckiest used book finder ever, I've been on a dry streak lately at thrift stores and used bookstores. Haven't found anything good for a while now, and the few books I did find that I was looking for were in such bad condition I had to take a pass.
I had a little more free time throughout the day than usual today, and rummaged around and found these. Not all are cream of the crop, but for around 50 cents per book, I'm not complaining!
Picked up:
Hauntings: Tales of the Supernatural
Night Chills
Whispers
The Tomb (Adversary Cycle, #2)
The Keep
The Haunted
The Reckoning
The Funhouse
and one of my all-time favorite non-horror classics
At Play in the Fields of the Lord
I'm just about to go into town (Bury) and hunt down some good second hand books. Fingers crossed I'll find some good ones :)
I just got home from work not long ago. Supposed to do something tonight, but seriously, I just want one night sitting at home on my arse and read. Or watch tv, or twiddle my thumbs. Is it wrong to take time for me? I try so hard to help others but the time has come for me to help myself. Sorry to rant guys, just really tired. And I really want to read.
I'm messing with my Kindle with Lord of illusion on the DVD player. It not bad to want time for yourself Cindy but it always makes us feel guilty. My cats a stray as well, we found her 10 years ago living on the train station.
Been a rough day with the kids and being cooped up in the house...now to be relieved and grab some dinner and watch the new Carrie with my mom:)
I've got land of the dead on, and I'm trying to decide which book to read. I've got a couple on the go.
Just got home and I'm wore out. A good thing really. Had a great day. Work went well, visited a friend, went out to eat, and stopped by my daughter's. Haven't been home since 6 a.m. so I'll most likely end up going to bed. Have to work tomorrow and it should be really slow, so I'm taking books to work.
I just watched an episode of Infested in which the people had an infestation of wolf spiders. I was extremely curious because we have the same problem. These folks tried everything, ultimately putting a bug bomb in the attic which forced hundreds of giant spiders out into their living space. I was hoping to get insight into how to get rid of them, but these people ended up moving out... the end. WHAT? Now I am freaked and only learned there is no way to get rid of these things.
Adam, try to find a bright side of the problem. Maybe you can begin to incorporate them into your diet. A cheap and plentiful source of protein. One crawls up onto the arm of your chair while you're reading and you can be like, "Ooo, yum, a snack!"
True, and with some of the females you get the added bonus of a hundred young tasty morsels as well. I can try to get into spider eating. One thing I learned that was helpful was that the bite from a wolf spider is only really, really freaking painful. So we won't die from them, which is nice.
There can't be a bright side, spiders are scary, I can't stand even one. And your spiders bite. I'd move ! Do they scare your wife and kids or do they not mind, I don't think we get biting spiders over here, so that's lucky.I've not seen infestation yet. Is it a new series ?
We've got an outdoor infestation of these giant spiders that make Indiana Jones-size webs all around the porch and across the path to the car. I walked into one yesterday morning and was stuck for twenty minutes. The spider had wrapped me a cocoon and drained half my blood by the time a neighbor found me and cut me down.

It sounds like you're already turning the creepy spiders into a book Evans. At the house l moved from I had 3 huge ant nests in the walls. When they first got into the house I didn't know what they were.Ants should be tiny, these were up to a centimetre and they had wings. They were even in my bed. I had to get my son round and he told me they were ants. After two summer's of this I moved.
