Scott I haven't watched TV in three weeks because of goodreads and great books....and THEN...I recently acquired a 55 in. flat screen TV (not bought..a long story). And now two hours later its off. Its friggin huge and I feel dirty...lol. But I did watch trailers for The Book Thief....Hunger Games 2...Divergent...and Enders Game. All on my to read list except hunger Games (read). I have to get reading fast...although Im cautious of being in a YA, futuristic, bleak world for very long. The Book Theif may not break things up since I'm still haunted from reading Night...and seeing Boy/Striped Pajamas. I'm gonna need some David Sedaris and PTSD treatments soon.

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Jason, it is available now, but you want to wait until I finish with this final draft. I am so ready to finish tonight. No pain can stop me!

message 853: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments Adam, you're hilarious! Lol. Lady luck wasn't on my side today, however, I did find a laymon book I don't have, The Woods Are Dark. Any good?

message 854: by Kate (new)

Kate If memory serves, Addy. That's a good one. I'm biased though, 95% of his stuff I love. :)

message 855: by [deleted user] (new)

Just got home and plan to read some but to tell the truth I was praying the whole way home. So tired that I was having a great deal of difficulty driving. Made it home safe and that's what counts. May attempt to read for a minute but no guarantees tonight.

message 856: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments Cool Kate! I got it. It was only 2 bucks and I haven't read a laymon book I haven't liked:)

message 857: by Kate (new)

Kate Great deal, Addy. The only book I read of his that fell flat was Friday Night in Beast House, it's thought that someone else finished this off after he died.

Evans Light (evanslight) Kate wrote: "Great deal, Addy. The only book I read of his that fell flat was Friday Night in Beast House, it's thought that someone else finished this off after he died."

Yes, that one was terrible. I've heard good things about THE WOODS ARE DARK, though. Sounds like a great find. Don't have that one in my collection yet.

You seem like one hard worker, Cindy! Hope you get a reprieve over the weekend.

message 860: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments It depends what version of The Woods Are Dark you got. Hopefully it is the revamped version.

I have to admit, I'm getting addicted to the videos made in the booktube community. Most of them seem to be aimed at YA, but there's a little bit of everything, and I've actually been getting a greater appreciation for YA as time goes by.

Sweet! If you're going to watch TV, might as well be big and clear.

Yeah, I know the feel. There are too many funny people making too many funny reviews. I'm not all for the YA either, but I tend to read a lot of it, just because it's quick and easy.

Addy | 379 comments How would I know Adam? I don't think it is.

message 865: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments It will have a forward by his daughter, explaining how she restored the original text, Addy.

message 866: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments No, it doesn't have a foreword:(

message 867: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Argh! Still a good find as it is rare, but half the story is missing from that version. I found Friday Night At The Beast House for a quarter the other day. I really only got it for the bonus novella The Wilds. I have heard Friday Night is a horrible mess.

message 868: by Kate (new)

Kate The Wilds is great fun. Classic Laymon. Friday Night starts out great but turns into a hot mess.

message 869: by Bailey (new)

Bailey I had never heard of Laymon so I searched him and added Endless Night to my "to-read" list.

message 870: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments Oh. I remember when id never heard of him. I started with Traveling Vampire Show. I read it with Kate. And ever since I have to read something of his at least once ever so often. Its kinda like a tasty treat! Hope you like him Bailey.

message 871: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kobus (rainbowsunset) I'm re-reading Fellowship of the Ring at the moment; or at least I'm trying. My cat, Fritti, keeps getting in the way! :)

So true about Laymon treats, Addy, I just picked up Endless Night by Richard Laymon at the UBS. I have the ebook but I had to get the paperback for my growing collection. Have you read that one?

message 873: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments No, I haven't read Endless Night yet. I have it on my kindle though.

Yikes! I keep forgetting how easy those of us without kids have it!

message 876: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments we should do a buddy read on that one sometime, Addy.

O I know sometimes its crazy but I mostly enjoy it. The kids and me really missed out on a lot when I was working, but with my husband making enough for me to stay home we try to do it all.

message 879: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments It is great that you can be an at-home mom, Joycedale. Not too much of that going on these days.

message 881: by [deleted user] (new)

Had to work today so I'm a bit sleepy. Did get some reading done during the day at work and a little reading done when I got home. If I wake up during the night as I often do, I'm gonna spend the time reading.

Read some of Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three this morning and now I'm watching the Saints and Falcons. Need to wash a load of clothes but I'm taking my Galaxy with me to the laundry. Will be in and out today on GR's. Hope everyone is having a fantastic day. Any football fans out there?

message 884: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Flipping between the Panthers game and the Steelers game here, missed the first hour.

Evans wrote: "Flipping between the Panthers game and the Steelers game here, missed the first hour."

I thought the Falcons/Saints game was gonna be a blowout at first but now it's tied. I might have to start a football thread under the chit-chat section. Hmmm

message 886: by Evans (last edited Sep 08, 2013 12:47PM) (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) I'm sure you'd get some takers. I'm a pretty casual fan myself, but Adam gets fairly hard-core about it. People have laughed at me because I take books with me to sporting events. I can read right through a crowd doing the wave all around me.

message 887: by Rick (new)

Rick Shepard I live in New Hampshire, but I've been a Minnesota Vikings Fan since the mid 1960's. I've been a pretty casual fan the last couple years, but I still believe that if the Vikings ever win the Superbowl, I will be able to stop watching football, and die a peaceful death!

message 890: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments I am hanging my head like every opening NFL day thanks to the preposterous display of buffoonery from my team... the Jaguars.

message 891: by [deleted user] (new)

Thinking about grilling out but it's a little cloudy and the weather people are calling for isolated showers. Should I be bold? Also, watching the Packers/SanFran game, reading, checking posts on GR's, and doing a little cleaning.

message 892: by ☆Joycedale☆ (new)

☆Joycedale☆ | 307 comments I like how everyone's is watching football except me, I'm watching the xgames

message 893: by [deleted user] (new)

Haven't started it yet. I can't read multiple books at a time and I'm halfway through Rift: A Nightshade Novel right now. but my daughters already snagged it so it may be a few days before I can begin it

message 896: by [deleted user] (new)

Change of plans folks. I was going to try and finish Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three tonight, but Jeff is begging for my attention. He wants me to watch a movie and I really need some sleep tonight after the movie. Only got a little over two hours of sleep last night because I was in a tremendous amount of pain. Will pick the book back up tomorrow.

Same here Jason. I try to make it back home every year for at least one game. I live in Pittsburgh now and unfortunately have to listen to Steeler fans all season!

message 899: by Rick (new)

Rick Shepard Well, just the opposite here. I'm a New Englander, and I'm surrounded by Patriots fans, who could care less about my Vikings.
