I don't know how many times I have pushed myself to the point of hallucinating from exhaustion. I'm glad to hear that you will be able to sleep tonight. Tell your wife happy birthday for me. You are fortunate to have such a wonderful wife that supports you and would spend her birthday at the hospital with you and your mother. Maybe you could have some flowers delivered to her at the hospital?
Gonna watch a movie with Jeff now. Made good progress today with Swan Song, visited with the in-laws, and now I'm tired. Have a great night everyone!

Oh Breanda, I am so sorry to learn about your grandmother. I will keep her in my prayers. And your family also.

Thinking of you as well, Brenda. Hope she recovers quickly.

Why can't there be more days like this? *sigh*
I'm on chapter 67. Attempting to finish this so I can complete my other commitments and review a couple of books. Been making good progress lately. I do need to wash clothes and clean my house today, but I'm reading in-between chores.

Maybe it helps her spirit to know that her both her sons love her and are there for her.

8:10 p.m. and we just put in the movie Freedom Writers. Don't know if it is any good or not, but the description caught my eye.
Just got home and plan on reading for at least two hours tonight in-between cooking Jeff something to eat.

How is your mother doing, Adam and Evans?

It almost broke my heart when my mother was admitted to the nursing home Brenda. I will say that she developed a few close friendships with some of the staff and that made me happy. Hang in there! We are here for you!
I am planning on reading for an hour or so then I have to do some things tonight. Cheated on dinner and ate some leftovers. Hope everyone is having a pleasant day. I am hot right now. Summer came back to bite us in the rump.

I remember going through the whole process when my father had to go to a nursing home. I don't think you can ever be fully prepared for it. It's one thing to think things through logically, but another to actually have to go through it with family. I wish you the best of luck, I'm sure things will go well!:)

Here's a mild distraction from troubles at home...was driving through a small town today and saw a sign at a Habitat for Humanity REStore advertising all books for 25 cents. Pulled in and found these oldie goldies.
See that one with the black cover? That's an excellent condition first edition printing of a very famous book. Can anyone guess what it is? : )
(I'll share the answer later)
Also picked up some vintage Bradbury, a couple very hilarious 1974 porno novels (side-splitting descriptions...I'll have to share a few choice selections sometime), and also that book that predicts that the alignment of the planets in 1982 will end the world (I love books on failed prophecies). Also scored a nice vintage F. Paul Wilson novel...keeping an eye open for the other two in the trilogy.

Thanks Rick.

Awesome! Happy for you and your family.

Looks like an edition of Sybil to me.

You got it, Brenda! Nice work!
But Cindy, this copy was first printing, August 1976. Doubt it's worth anything much, but you can bet I checked it thoroughly for autographs!

That is a keeper for sure Evans!
It's almost 11 p.m. and I just got home. Only spent a little over an hour at home since 6:30 this morning. I'm exhausted. Didn't get any reading done today but I'll be back tomorrow in full force. Staying home Thursday after work.

Hope you get some rest, and a chance to read tomorrow! I'm doing research on Kent Haruf, preparing for book club tomorrow. I lead a discussion on his new book, Benediction.

I've never read Kent Haruf. I picked up Plainsong a while back, because I thought it looked really interesting, but I haven't had a chance to read it yet.
