Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments Getting ready for bed. Ugh, tomorrow is Monday.

Feeling a little sore, especially my arm, where I hit it last night. I was out with a friend, night fishing in his john boat, in the middle of a lake, when a pontoon party boat (with very loud music) barreled up. We thought he was going to pass us, when suddenly he turned and hit us! We were knocked to the bottom of the boat. Rick heard a girl on their boat scream, "OMG, you hit that boat!", but apparently their driver didn't understand English, and thought she said, "This is fun, let's go faster!" The music was turned off, and they quickly sped off.

A camper jumped into his boat and came out quickly to see if we needed help - he said the impact was loud enough to wake him. I've posted on Facebook, so I'm hoping someone is able to let us know who did it. We didn't have much damage - it ripped one of the cleats off the boot, shearing off the screws - but man, that could have been so much worse! If we hadn't seen it coming, and quickly got off the nose of the boat, we could have gone right over. (You know what that would do to my Galaxy 4S phone?? That would suck!)

Anyway, I need to go lie down. Chat at y'all later!

Ouch! Glad you're okay. Hope they catch the creeps.

Evans Light (evanslight) Up til 4:30am uptown last night with party animals (I'm a night owl, but not a party animal - there's a difference), in pain and zombie-like as a result today. Got in a little SWAN SONG, and watched the new TRUE BLOOD with the wife this evening.

Probably going to sleep so hard tonight I'll be playing poker with dead relatives in hell in my dreams. (See what I mean? I'm punchier than a bowl of ginger ale and a half gallon of sherbert right now).

Good night all, and happy Monday tomorrow

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments Yeah, it was ridiculous. We're in the middle of this big lake, and they manage to find us. We had the lights out (the bugs were awful), but turned them on in plenty of time for them to see us - they just weren't watching. We had another boat driver tell us. when we reached the dock, that he had been going down the lake, and saw us when we turned on the lights for him, and he said we'd warned him in plenty of time. More than likely, they were drinking pretty good - in Illinois, if you are caught for driving a boat while intoxicated, you can lose your drivers license for 6 months. I'm sure they were scared. But geez, you'd think they at least would have checked to see if we were really hurt! Sigh. Idiots!

message 655: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) That's scary Brenda, glad you're okay!

I'm two episodes of True Blood behind Evans - hoping to catch up a bit tonight :)

Just finished one meeting and squeezing in a quick bite to eat before the next one :/ No time to read this lunch break!

Addy | 379 comments Another grueling bike ride, but pleasant also. Went with my dad. It was nice to spend one on one time with him:) Took a shower and if you've ever heard of jack black dragon ice it does wonders for sore muscles. Gonna read a bit then hit the hay. Nite!

message 657: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Mondays, I take my daughter to gymnastics class. So we did that, gave her a late shower, she wanted to eat all the contents of our fridge, (we went grocery shopping after gymnastics) and I started reading SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES with her. We tried some Poe last night and she was done after I labored through the task of reading it aloud. I remembered The Gold Bug being an easy read when I was a kid, but half of it had to have soared right over my head. Anyway, Bradbury is much more colorful and easy to read aloud, and she enjoyed it. Made my night. I've been working with Evans for the past couple hours putting the final touches on a new book and my daughter, Emily, is STILL awake.

Evans Light (evanslight) Delicious Vietnamese food for dinner, reading some SWAN SONG and admiring my latest finds from yet another used bookstore I stumbled upon today. Also procrastinating on finishing up Adam's paperback cover for no other reason than it's late and I'm lazy. Sad, but true!

Made some decent progress tonight. Read at least a chapter or two in five of the books I'm reading. Not a total loss anyway. Just wish I could learn to refrain from reading so many at a time. I'm like a little kid who is told NOT to do something. Just seems like it takes so long to finish a book. I'm really getting into a couple of the ones that were just OK. They seem to be picking up which will make things go a bit faster. Going to bed in about half an hour, but first, I want to read a little out of Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three.

message 660: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC Wide awake thanks to thunderstorms. I think I'll try to make some progress on GRAVITY'S RAINBOW.

I scored the audiobook today for Devil's Knot. Maybe I'll listen to some of that.

That is still tentative. I have a good bit more written but I kind of stalled out on it when other projects came to the front. I may just release the next part before I put out my first novel, which might be very soon now.

I'm excited, too. I am still not sure if I will edit it down to perhaps a long novella, maybe 25,000 words or so, we shall see. As for Continuance Agency, I will be working on it as I go.

message 668: by Addy (new)

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments Planning on night fishing tomorrow night again, hoping for no replay of next week.

Several years ago I was hit by a bus while walking across the street after work. Last Saturday I was hit by a boat while we were fishing. I figure if things come in 3s, I have 1 more hit coming, but because it's been a boat and a bus, it has to start with a B - balloon maybe, like a hot air balloon? I really need to be watching the skies!!! LOL!

Haven't been online much lately. I apologize, but I really need to deal with my health right now. I may not be able to get online every day for a while, but I will definitely check in at least every other day. I will be back after eating dinner. Beautiful day outside. Makes me want to just sit outside for a while.

Janie Johnson Cindy I quit smoking after about 22 years. Best thing I ever did! It's nice to know I am gonna be around for my kids and my precious grandblessing.

Kate I love Laymon so much. His stuff always hooks me and reels me in. I have enjoyed just about all of them except for Bite. That one seemed a little pointless.

Adam I have not read that one yet. Will look for it this next week when we make our way to our local UBS. I have only a short list left of Laymon books I need. It just saddens me that we lost his presence in this world.

I haven't heard anything but we think its someone trying to pin it on me. I only live a block from the store so it would be easy to get my tag and the policewomen said they decribed me as blond and curly which is true but my hair was french braided yesterday so you couldn't tell it was curly which means it was someone that seen me before. then later when I went to the gas station the cashier (I know them all) said the people in the truck even told the cops which house was mine. the cashier said she hadn't seen what happened and didn't know they was talking about me till I was telling her. She said they have surveillance cameras pointed at the parking lot so they can look at the tapes and see I wasn't there, so nothing will happen to me

Having a decent night so far. Worked today and I'm tired, but I haven't gotten the "spaghetti leg" syndrome yet tonight and I'm not hurting too bad. Gonna put all of my time tonight into reading Swan Song. I'm only on Chapter 23 and want to catch up. This is my favorite of those I'm reading right now and its the group read of the month. Decision made. Since my body won't cooperate lately, I'm just gonna do one book at a time until I finish it.
