Addy | 379 comments Stressful day today. Settling in (finally) to some Swan Song and some wine:)

message 603: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Looking forward to getting in a few pages of SWAN SONG before bed. Enjoyed spending the evening working with Adam on getting his new book ready to go to print. It's looking good!

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments It is indeed bro. I am going to post it as an e-book for Amazon tomorrow night.

Rachel the Book Harlot | 63 comments I'm off today so working on house chores, which are always fun. Bleh. I'm also almost done with my current read so trying to decide what I'm in the mood for next.

message 606: by Lina (new)

Lina (booksnotlovers) Still packing, which is dead boring. I have too much stuff, and too little space at my flat. My room is like 6 square meters (like 20 square feet I think). It's tiny. And with a shared kitchen and bathroom, I can't put a lot of stuff there either. ... So much for being a broke ass student.

Rachel the Book Harlot | 63 comments That sucks, Lina. I can definitely sympathize--living in NYC I've had my share of super tiny apts. It's amazing how you become an expert in space management. :) If you don't mind my asking, what are you studying?

Remind me to live in NYC some time.

I'm studying Drama and Theatre. Luckily, the tuition is free, but without a job it's still pretty difficult to live on student loans. Blah. But Drama and Theatre is funfun though, so it's worth it. Probably.

Evans Light (evanslight) Used bookstore time again! Traded in some lesser works I had laying around and got these for a mere $5 total. Decided to branch out on a couple titles to authors new to me.

I'd like to read that Simmons book.

Been up almost 24 hours now and I worked 12 without a lunch break today. Needless to say, I haven't gotten any reading done and it's not gonna happen tonight either. Getting some sleep as soon as my medicine kicks in. I apologize to the group for my slowness reading our group book, but I've got to get some sleep tonight. NEVER again will I attempt eight books at one time. Too stressful and it shouldn't be that way. Guess I just try to participate more than I should with the buddy and group reads. Sorry to rant, just tired and hurting. Reading a few posts before I go to bed and then I plan on six hours solid zzzzz's.

message 612: by Rick (new)

Rick Shepard Interesting collection Evans. I have the McCammon book, and I'm familiar with Summer of Night, but I've never heard of the other three. They look ominous though, and that can only be good!

message 613: by [deleted user] (new)

Got a bite to eat, meds starting to help relieve the pain, and I'm feeling a bit better now. Sorry about the previous rant. Love and hugs.

message 614: by Rick (new)

Rick Shepard Rants can be beneficial the the meds:)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Watching the first preseason football game for my Jaguars! Hope we can win more than 1 game this year.

message 618: by [deleted user] (new)

Cindy, don't worry about the rant. We all need to do it now and then, and it's one of the reasons GR is so great! Hope you get some pain relief and some good sleep! Just hanging out watching the Reds and drinking an adult beverage. Will start reading in a bit and just keep one eye on the game. Enjoying Friday night and looking forward to a relaxing weekend.

No rest for the wicked I guess.

I think I'll have a bourbon, or three...

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Seems I am not the only one enjoying some drinks tonight. Cheers everyone. It has been a long week. We deserve a break.

Kate I'm watching a movie called 'Ravenous' and putting off studying for the next couple of hours. ;)

message 623: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments That was a good film, Cindy. It has been awhile since I watched it, but I remember I knew nothing about it. My sister rented it and I watched it with her. I was pleasantly surprised. Enjoy it.

message 624: by Anthea (new)

Anthea | 19 comments Tried to read after a couple akvavits but I think I better just go to bed and read tomorrow. 'Night all.

message 625: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Cheers to all! I set aside the ale for tonight and downed a few crisp refreshing ciders instead.

Having a great laugh reading this wackiness: http://blogs.sfweekly.com/exhibitioni...

Lina (booksnotlovers) I may have gone shopping, and I may have spent way too much money for my won good.

message 632: by Kate (new)

Kate I bought 4 Ray Bradbury kindle books.

message 633: by [deleted user] (new)

I have two hours before I leave for work. Gonna read some and just chill.

message 634: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Going to run errands for awhile, and then when that is out of the way, I will resume the final proofread of my upcoming short story collection Toes Up.

message 635: by [deleted user] (new)

Off to work now. I'm taking a couple of print books with me since it SHOULD be a reasonably slow day. Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

message 636: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Good friends and family in town to visit this weekend. Reading time may be at a minimum, but on the plus side, got a group to go see Elysium with tonight. Loved District 9, so have high hopes for Elysium.

Thanks for sharing! Bradbury is like chicken soup for the soul

Ho did you like Elysium? I saw it last night, too, and I loved District 9 and Sharlto Copley. For me Elysium was good, but it was nowhere near great. It's been a disappointing summer for movies for me.

message 640: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Haven't seen Elysium yet. Going tonight. Did you see Europa Report? That was a nice surprise.

message 641: by Sam (new)

Sam Arnold (samharnold) Oh drat was just getting nicely into Swan Song and now Harry Potter is on TV am seriously torn now.

How do you find time to read with a schedule that crazy?

message 643: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC Not exactly sure what I want to read right now. I probably should continue with something I've already been reading but haven't finished, like GRAVITY'S RAINBOW.

message 644: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments I'm desperately trying to watch Burnt Offerings, but am falling asleep. Its such a good movie too. Shouldn't have stayed up so late reading Swan Song last night, but it was so worth it. Nite all. Off to some much needed sleep:)

It's definitely tough, but will definitely be worth it in the end. :)

2:20pm I'm having a lazy weekend, which is good because I've been feeling a bit under the weather. Right now I'm trying to figure out what to read next. Not sure what I'm in the mood for.

We can switch anyday you want. Seriously. I'll go today if you want me to!

20:32. Going to eat some youghurt and get done with The Great Gatsby, so I can finally read The Silver Linings Playbook. I'm going to be so busy the next two weeks, I probably won't have time to read anything.

message 647: by [deleted user] (new)

2:41 p.m. and I've been out with a friend all day. She went with me to the laundry and now we're at the library for an hour or so. She has to be home by 4:00 p.m. Catching up on some unread posts and browsing around the library. Plan to read for a couple of hours after dinner tonight. Right now I'm just excited to be at the library. No time for reading. I've gotta look at books!!

message 648: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments Non stop going today. Rode 20 miles on my bike with my husband and that was a blast! Doing the very boring housework now and can't wait to sit and relax with a book:) Kinda ready for Monday....lol, never thought I'd say that.

message 649: by [deleted user] (new)

Taking a break to watch an episode of Star Trek Enterprise with Jeff. Be back in about an hour.

message 650: by Patrick (new)

Patrick (patn76) | 60 comments Just watched the pilot episode of Supernatural. My wife and her sister love it, and she agreed to try reading a chapter of one of my books if I watched the first episode. I actually liked it. But I gave up 40 minutes of my reading time. Now I'm sleepy.
