"Hurry, the food's getting way cold. And I still need to dust this place, polish the weapons, ring up Dicky and get his ass over here..." Leo ranted on his morning tasks as he dragged Maisie off the bed and to the washroom where she could wash up. "Five minutes, that's it," he snapped as he shut the door behind her hurriedly. There was a faint sound of a phone dialing and Leo yelling at someone across the end, using 'Dicky' a lot.

Departing the phone from his ear for just a second, Leo whispered, "On the table" and pointed a small round table tucked at the opposite corner. On the wood laid a few dishes, a small white bowl of creamy soup, two empty plates, another similar plate piled with five pancakes and a two burgers laid on a tiny piece of cloth. Once done with the instructions, Leo put down the phone and joined Maisie at the table, drinking half the soup, two pancakes and a burger.

"Are you?" Leo murmured, still chewing on his burger. He was already holding a duster and a broom, sweeping and dusting the furniture. He looked awkward, dancing about, trying to sweep and dust everything in a short time.
Surkhab wrote: ""I asked the question first. I'd love to have it if you don't." Maisie said, her hand still hovering over the pancake. Her eyes trained on Leo. "Okay, can you eat first and then do the work? It's r..."
"You eat it," Leo said, ignoring her last comment and he ditched the broom into one messy pile along with the dust pan and duster. He then fumbled about and found a pail of water and a mop. Dipping the mop into the pail quickly and sweeping it about, Leo started muttering angrily, like he was cursing the man named Dicky for not being here.

"Stupid assistant that helped me out a few years ago but started going on really long vacations..." Leo muttered angrily, mopping the floor in apparent difficulty as somebody knocked the door. "Answer that," he told Maisie.
"Tell him I hate him and I wish he would work harder. But since he's here, he can come in," Leo yelled from behind Maisie. The guy was short and skinny, like some small goblin or gnome. His hair was mousy and grew all about his hair in tuffs.
"Yes. So Dicky," Leo paused, covering the distance between Dicky and himself. Shoving the mop and bucket handle into the other man's hands, Leo stormed away, grabbed a few bags full of supplies and tossed two to Maisie. "You. Dicky. You take care of this shop while I'm gone. If I come back and find that everything is out of order...You're going to get it from me," Leo snapped and he gestured for Maisie to come with him. Sliding past the shocked Dicky, both of them started off.
"I know that was brisk so is there anything you still want to do before we take off to the Base?" Leo said, looking behind his shoulder at Dicky closing the door and starting to mop.

"Oh come on. Fine, I'll get us a ride then we go to the Base. We sit there, a safe distance away until we gather the courage to walk inside and start screaming. Or... Do you want to hear the next option?" Leo asked, looking at her with a raised eyebrow.
"We lie to the Freelancers. Or at least, I'll lie. I'll pretend to be a Freelancer Programmer and we join in a gang. The gang will most probably head for the Base to attack and we will follow them all the way. Until the attack part, we ditch them and go for our own goals," Leo said simply.
((Sorry, I got to go for a moment now...))
((Back.))
"Okay then," Leo said. The elevator started downwards and soon hit the ground floor. With a 'ting' the doors opened and Leo made his way out to the desert again. "Wait for a sec, I'll get us something to ride..." Leo murmured as he snapped his fingers a couple of times, getting ready. Then he called out, "Mayre! Here, girl!" Suddenly, a red and black motorcycle appeared out of nowhere. Leo turned to look at Maisie's reaction.

"Get on the bike, you drive it. I can turn into my buddy wolf, remember?" Leo said gesturing for her to get onto Mayre as he shrugged off his bag and secured it onto Mayre's sides. He then turned into a wolf and started running off, howling to urge Maisie to hurry up.
Leo snorted in his head at that. Yeah right, a few seconds later she'll turn around and beg me where the Base actually is. He laughed mentally as he watched her speed off on Mayre.
Okay. I didn't know Freelancers knew where the Base was. Lara said it was top-secret. Top-secret my foot! Leo thought, watching Maisie speed off confidently. Turning back into human-form, Leo strode over to her and slung his bags over his shoulder. And patted Mayre, gesturing Maisie to get off as he told Mayre to leave this world again. A second later, the motorcycle was gone and all that was left of its existence were her tracks.
"Great, so we go in now?" Leo asked Maisie for confirmation.
"Great, so we go in now?" Leo asked Maisie for confirmation.
"What?" Leo asked, impatient that she looked astonished for no apparent reason to him. "What did I do? Breathe? Walk? Blink? Oh gee, you never knew a living thing could do that?" he asked exasperated. He rolled his eyes at her with mock loath.
"Nowhere, anywhere, who knows?" Leo said, with another roll of his eyes. "Come on. Do you want to go in or not?" he repeated, crossing his arms and tapping his foot.
"Ladies first," Leo said, jerking his head to the long red bridge ahead of them that separated the two from the large, twisting silver tower ahead. "'Cross the Red Bridge, Freelancer, traitor, and expect no return.'" he quoted from the welcoming words embedded into the wood on the bridge without looking at it. Almost every elder Simpcon would have known it, for the first of the Four Brothers had carved the words there themselves.
"No, I'm not sure," Leo said walking past her and onto the brownish red bridge that stunk of dried blood. Along the way, there were Simpcon officers whipping moaning and crawling men and women laid sprawled on the not-painted wood, their wrists bleeding profusely. Alec's doing, Leo thought. He wondered how Ruth still got away from the hundred years of training under that Droid still gentle and kind to most people.
"What do you think of this, hmm? How the Simpcons treat people... Such an evil person Alec is... But oh well, you still have yet to meet the Four Brothers. It's told that they're all ten times better than Alec, ten times more secretive too," Leo said, trying to distract himself with the Four Brothers topic, he had never been able to remember much about them, no matter how many times Lara and Ruth tried to drill it into his brain during his first years.
"Good, you don't want to know how the Four Brothers torture their criminals," Leo said with a shrug, tossing a curt nod towards one of the officers who nodded at him in courtesy. Strange, he didn't know many Simpcons that were courteous. Feeling slightly weird inside, Leo led Maisie closer and closer to the silver tower that drew closer and closer. Finally, they came to the end of the wide and long bridge, panting and sweating slightly from the heat of the desert and their hasty paste.
"Here we are, ready?" Leo said, titling his head upwards to admire and fear the tall metal building like in a movie. It was up to Maisie now to finish off the fine line.

"Right. So I take that as 'I am ready'," Leo murmured as he stepped up next to her. Pushing the doors open, Leo said, "Good luck to the both of us." As the doors swung open, both were greeted with a familiar but somehow distant-in-their-memory voice.
"Woah, what are you guys doing here?" Alexander Nexus (I remembered that they weren't supposed to know his middle name) said, eying the two with Lara Constantino and Ruth Seneca by his sides.

"This map is important because Lucian was at this camp last I heard," Renn said simply.

Fallon looked at him. "What are you thinking about?" She could see that he was deep in thought just by the look on his face. He looked pensive.

"Hello? Wake up, Missy. I've got everything packed up, breakfast ready and you're still sleeping," Leo said, shaking Maisie hard. "WAKE UP, MISS MAISIE MCKAY!!!" he yelled when she only stirred.
