One of my ancestors was named Experience Smith.

I've been walking a lot this week since most of the subways here are still out of service after the storm. Getting lots of exercise, which I needed after eating nothing but cookies and other junk for 2 days.
I tend to walk and hike a lot on vacations, but then I make up for it by eating the fatty rural foods one finds in these locales.

I hear ya Mish! I even bought a treadmill when I cancelled the gym membership I wasn't using...it's been in the garage in a box for 6-8 months.

I bought an elliptical which I assembled myself. I used it for awhile, then it developed some annoying loud clicking noise and I stopped using it. I should really start using it again.

Then why isn't my ass getting any smaller?"
Isn't that an Erma Bombeck title? If Life is a Treadmill, Why Isn't My Ass Getting Any Smaller?

I usually walk from the train station to work, which is about 25 minutes.
I just came back not too long ago walking from the corner store after I bought a pack of cigarettes and some coffee. I try to walk or bike as much as possible, but I don't believe in shoving it down people's throats either. People who try to guilt others into exercising more piss me off. I know they mean well....but damn its annoying lol
I went for an early morning walk today. I walked for about forty five minutes at a brisk pace. It was really pleasant with no people about and no traffic.
Does anyone else ever have to deal with those morons who yell at you from their cars when you're walking? I swear lately I can't even walk to the corner store without one of these losers honking at me and yelling something profound like "WHOOOOO!!!!!" or "NICE HAT ASSHOLE!".....I don't get it
Last Saturday night, I was at the lights crossing the road, and a guy was crossing from the opposite direction. He waited until we passed one another, and then he put his face right up to mine and screamed really loud.
It did take me some time to gather my composure. I actually heard myself gasp, and I was shaking for a while.

They are cowards who know that you as a pedestrian don't have enough time to react to their idiocy. By the time you do, they're long gone in the safety of their car, free to do it again without fear of being retaliated against. They're discouraged and ashamed of the lack of self-fulfillment in their own lives and they resort to such antics as a way to validate themselves.
Either that or they have a small penis and are taking it out on the rest of the world ;)
That would have freaked me out too, Evie. I'm not sure I would have had the presence of mind to punch him anywhere. I would have just wanted to get as far away as I could as fast as I could. He may have been a nutter! No wish to engage.
Our walk this evening was just around the local neighbourhood. We had a bit of rain this afternoon, so the world looked fresh . It smelled good too, very earthy near the park.
I had lunch with a friend downtown in Tribeca today and then walked up to Union Square afterwards (a little less than 2 miles). It was drizzling the whole time, but was actually kind of nice! I hadn't done a lot of walking for a while so it felt good to get some exercise.
I walked 18 holes last week. What is it people say? "Golf is a good way to spoil a great walk" or some such?
Some such. I disagree. I love to walk a golf course. You are outside, the landscaping is always pretty and you always see great wildlife.I played in a foundraiser a long while ago. It started very early in the morning and it was a little chilly but who could mind when sipping piping hot coffee and watching the sun break through the fog?
Walked to the post office, the dentist, Starbucks, and to get a flu shot this morning. About 1.5 miles.
I had novacaine in my gums and my lip felt three feet wide. It was quite difficult to hold a conversation with the pharmacist. I wondered if I might be drooling.
I'm thinking about buying a bike helmut and doing a bit of cycling in our local park . I'm only thinking about it,though. When the weather cools down.
