I told my son (8) and daughter (5) to clean their room so we could watch the movie we rented, and they both responded with "But I want to read!" Does a momma proud :)
They know how to pull your strings. LOL
My daughter is flying through books this summer. She is pretty much finishing a book in one or two days. I am trying to find YA books that she can read without too much adult content since she is 11.

My son is re-reading the
(he's 13). He also loved the
series if she hasn't read that - in fact, that is one of his favorite series.

Mitch was whiny. The PoV thing irritates me because it is written badly - or at least inconsistently.
The clinic needs to hire someone worth his/her degree. "Behavioral scientist" my ass. Alex SUCKS at people. Just sayin'.
I am fine with Eden becoming "whole" but I don't like that she starts bashing her previous Eden self. Becoming stronger isn't just about denying what you were.
There are some good one-liners in this one, but I really felt it dragging a lot. It wasn't a long read, but it wasn't terribly interesting either. If not for the buddy read, I would have put off finishing it.
I recommend Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar and 500 Kingdoms series for teens. They aren't explicit with he romance, and there's a lot of really interesting stuff going on in them (esp in Valdemar). I've written somewhat extensively on moral and cognitive development and reading, and I /always/ use Lackey in my work. She's even in my thesis.
Sorry for being around so little this week. Some very good friends just loaded up their Uhaul to move out of state, and I wanted to cram time in with them. They're gone now :(
At least I still have Gwenn. Gwenn, don't ever leave me, or I will become Mitch-like in my obsessive self-pity.
I also have my reading buddies! Woohoo! :)
I didn't like this one as well as the first, mainly because of Mitch - whiny like everyone else already mentioned. I would have loved to rate it 3.5 stars, but had to round up to 4.
The Carter thing made me curious, too. I was thinking along the same lines as Gwenn.
There were some good one liners in this one, like Alyssia said, but some of the many, many analogies used were making me role my eyes...a few of them-
"like a movie playing in her mind"
"like a bowling ball, she slammed into his legs"
"like a coin - one side's the winner"
"he'd tossed that part of her aside like a dirty sock"
"almost iridescent like a soap bubble blown by a child"
I could go on...because there were a lot of them :)
