Taylor You said in an interview that you seem to have your best ideas in various modes of transportation, for example the idea for Harry Potter came to you on a train, and the idea for The Casual Vacancy came on an airplane. Various modes of transportation play large roles in your books - Barry collapses when he gets out of his car, for example (and it wouldn't be Harry Potter without the Hogwarts Express). Why are travel and movement so important in your writing and how might The Casual Vacancy have been different if you had been traveling by boat or car instead of airplane?

Amna Wasim does this book have any sequel?

message 1403: by Amna (last edited Jul 08, 2013 02:03AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amna Wasim do you intend to write something for kids and adults or was this your last book?

message 1404: by Amna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amna Wasim what gave you the inspiration for this book?

message 1405: by Chris (new) - rated it 3 stars

Chris Walker Sukhvinder is bullied, racially abused, is not understood by her own parents and suffers from terrible self esteem yet ultimately she is the most heroic character, and, despite what she posts about her mother, arguably the most likeable character in the book. Did you know a Sukhvinder in your life? What are you trying to tell your younger female readers through Sukhvinder?

message 1406: by Amna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amna Wasim the characters in this book are all suffering through something.why such helpless people?

message 1407: by Audry (new) - rated it 5 stars

Audry Valentine dear my inspiration J.K Rowling, I'm from Indonesia, I love your novel so much and i have question for you, it's true that Barry Firbrother died by his illness or beacause of his politic opponent ? and Krystal Weddon is pregnant by Stuart Collins or Obbo? thank you

message 1408: by Dunn (new)

Dunn What made you decide to write something very different than what you have written in the past? Why the big jump and will you be writing a new book any time soon?

message 1409: by Jayme (new)

Jayme I'm not sure if there is anything you can actually do about this, but when and if you publish another book. Please tell your publisher £20.00 for a book is far too much money and truly put me off from buying "The Casual Vacancy" when it first came out. It's about £8 ish now (on amazon.co.uk), so I might purchase it soon.

You are an amazing writing and I wish you all the best. xx

Laurie Melton I went into this book preparing myself for the fact that it was not like the Harry potter books, and was rewarded with the fact that this book stands all on it's own quite nicely. I was wondering if you planned on writing another adult book anytime soon?

message 1422: by Kate (last edited Jul 08, 2013 10:04AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Kate First of all...how do you sleep at night knowing that you've broken so many hearts with the tragic stories you pen?

Ok, but seriously, The Casual Vacancy was a difficult read for me because it is very real and raw. It took me weeks to stop thinking about characters like Krystal and Sukhvinder, because they were so true to life, as were their situations. Do you find yourself exhausted after creating such detailed and heartbreaking stories? If so, how do you recover and move on from something so haunting as The Casual Vacancy?

message 1423: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa cardoso how did u get the inspiration to write such an amazing book?

message 1424: by Sarah (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sarah Casual Vacancy was a fabulous book, but a much darker more charged book than the Harry Potter series. How/Why did you decide to go to such a different way of writing? Was it difficult addressing such adult subject matter, after writing books appropriate for younger ages or was it easier because you didn't have to restrict for younger ages?

Cathie Coulter In what direction do you think your next book will take - a prequel to Harry Potter or more adult literature?

message 1429: by Karilee (new) - rated it 1 star

Karilee Gardner I want to know why you felt you needed to be so foul, crude, and vulgar in your adult novel? Do you think adults expect those things in an adult novel? I want to know why you felt those things were necessary, when you have already proven you can write well without it?

message 1430: by Gypsy (new)

Gypsy Rose Please, please tell me you'll write more fantasy as well as real world books!! I love your writing!
