I just finished Gone Girl in June and I'm hoping to "read" World War Z this month, so the picks are perfect! I'm actually planning to listen to the audio version of World War Z. I've been told that it's fabulous with a lot of famous people doing the reading. I've got the extended version on hold at the library. :)

I love monkeys as much as fireworks...one of my favourite animals to inhabit this beautiful world.
Thank you Kristie :-). I'm still smiling :-)

On that note, thanks for joining me. I was beginning to feel lonesome, nice to see some familiar faces.

I am not a fast reader so I started listening to audiobooks in my car over the past several months. I never liked them before because I felt like I was cheating by listening instead of reading, but now I'm starting to like them.
I've never bought an audiobook though. I always borrow them from the library. Usually there's a shorter wait list for them too.
World War Z has a few different audio versions. There is an abridged book version (about 5-6 CDs), a movie version I think (it's with the actor narrators, but only about 5-6 CDs again), and a movie tie-in version (that one combines the two, so it's about 10 CDs). I've heard the longer one is the best, so I have a hold on that one. Looking forward to checking it out.

I follow NYTimes, I have a weekly newsletter with their ranking of bestsellers and the picks for this month are very much to my interests, so all perfect, and what's most important, some familiar, friendly faces here :)
~~~ waves to Cherene, Cathie and Kristie ~~~
I finally sorted all the ARCs I have handled since may 2013 (many I am still waiting to read or receive) and it turns out I have about 87.
LoL. No wonder I'm so behind.
So, those of you that have to read things in sequence might have to fit the other books in. Sorry.
<-- another crossover from the Goodreads Group lol
I can't wait to get started on at least one of these two books. I never got to read Gone Girl with the other group and World War Z looks so good so I think I'll start there (after I've finished "Dead Ever After" as I only read one book at a time otherwise I get lost lol)
I picked my copy - of World War Z - for 6 bucks at Walmart. My library had a lot of holds. Does your library have access to digital copies? I usually find eBooks have a way lesser wait list. Also, they are forced to be returned on time which speeds up the process.
I've read so much more since joining Goodreads. I bet you will too. You find so many interesting books and conversations that you can't help but read more. Welcome to the group! :)
How have you been? Any plans for the weekend? Any good reads lately?
Now I'm reading The 5th Wave, I've started a little bit earlier than the buddy read date set for the first of August in a different group, but I have a huge pile of books to read in August (all interesting) and some challenges to complete thus my choice.
I don't have any specific plans for the weekend, I hope to find some time to read :)
I'm also waiting for the discussion on Joyland, which I read two weeks ago (I could stop myself, I was so curious about this book)
Tell the Wolves I'm Home looks so good to me. I've been wanting to read it for a while, but never seem to find the time. I'd like to get to it before the end of the year. I'm glad that you thought it was good.
I didn't get to World War Z as well this month as well, but I don't give up and hope to read it in September as it is going to be a month with less books scheduled :)
I hope we can discuss the 5th Wave later in August, let me know when you finish, I'm really interested in your opinion about it :)
