List 3 books you want to read and the next poster chooses one of the books for you to read next and posts 3 books he/she wants to read and so on...

For example:

I'd like to read
Heads in Beds A Reckless Memoir of Hotels, Hustles, and So-Called Hospitality by Jacob Tomsky The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1) by Rick Riordan The Black Echo (Harry Bosch, #1) by Michael Connelly

then the next poster says

Iamabibliophile I choose for you
The Black Echo (Harry Bosch, #1) by Michael Connelly

I'd like to read...
(then adds the cover of three they'd like to read.)

Connie N. Rebecca, I choose:

Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen

I like Sarah Addison Allen, but sometimes her books are hit or miss. I hope this one is good. I'll be interested to see what you think. (The others of your 3 books sound good too. It was a tough choice.)

I can't decide among these:

Too Hot To Touch (Rising Star Chef, #1) by Louisa Edwards Just One Day (Just One Day, #1) by Gayle Forman Never Lie to a Lady (Neville Family #1) by Liz Carlyle

message 6: by Jaedlyn (last edited Jun 25, 2013 09:38AM) (new)

Jaedlyn ✨ (lepoet_femme) Connie N., I choose for you:

Just One Day (Just One Day, #1) by Gayle Forman

I have read If I Stay and Where She Went by this author and I loved those books. If you're interested, you should check them out to see if you'd like to read those as well (they're a both part of the two book series). If you choose to read this one, I'd love to know if it was good read!

I would like to read:

Wonder by R.J. Palacio Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn Breathe by Elena Dillon

Finished
Little Blog on the Prairie July 1, 2013
★★★★ Cute book.

message 8: by Connie N. (new)

Connie N. Sorry, Jaedlyn, for making you wait so long for your pick, but I'm still reading the book you chose for me. Didn't have as much time to read over the long weekend as I expected.

Iamabibliophile | 169 comments Mod
Two of her picks are on the poll for our August read. ;)

message 10: by Jaedlyn (new)

Jaedlyn ✨ (lepoet_femme) @Connie, do you like it so far?

@Iamabibliophile, Ohhhh snap. I just realized they were lol.

message 11: by Connie N. (new)

Connie N. Yes, I like it very much, more than I thought I would. I've only recently "discovered" young adult books, and I'm finding them relaxing and enjoyable. Still over 200 pages to go...grrr.

I find I frequently enjoy YA books as well.

Connie N. So maybe you should change your 3 requests, Jaedlyn. You've been waiting since 6/25--maybe you've read these already now! I guess that's the trouble with having a small start-up group.

I agree Connie. Only a small percentage of people participate fully in a group so it's magnified even further in new groups.

Jaedlyn, I pick for you Breathe.

I'd like to read

Unsinkable: A Memoir or
The Lost Cause: The Trials of Frank and Jesse James or
Night of the Living Deed

Connie N. OK, so I'm not quite done with my book, but I'll definitely finish it up today or tomorrow. So I'm going to pick for you, Iamabibliophile.

All of these sound good, but I'll pick Night of the Living Deed (Haunted Guesthouse Mystery #1) by E.J. Copperman since I know that's for a group read.

My decision is between the following since they are all due at the library within the next week or two:

Just Desserts (Bed-and-Breakfast Mysteries #1) by Mary Daheim Never Lie to a Lady (Neville Family #1) by Liz Carlyle Not by Sight (Ozark Mountain Trilogy, #1) by Kathy Herman

I love YA fiction!

Jessica Montgomery | 5 comments Is this challenge still going on? I noticed that the last post was on July 25, but I just joined the group last month. I think that this is a brilliant idea!

message 20: by Connie N. (new)

Connie N. Jessica, this is a very fun idea, but with only a few active members in the group so far, it's difficult to get a timely response. I long ago read/returned to the library the books I had on my list. But go ahead and give it a try.

message 21: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Montgomery | 5 comments What about once a month doing a sign up for a buddy and then the buddy can pick the book for you... It is similar to this but maybe with sign ups more will participate.. Just a thought

message 22: by Connie N. (new)

Connie N. Actually, in another group there was a great pick-it-for-me type challenge but it was a little more open-ended. Once a month I would say...pick 2 books for me this month (or 1 or 3 or whatever), and I'd like them to be historical fiction (or romance or sci fi or whatever). Then someone, anyone, would respond that they'd pick for me this month and would go ahead and recommend 2 historical fiction books they liked. If you requested a pick, then you should also be willing to pick for someone else on the list, but that's not necessarily appropriate, in my opinion. For instance, if everyone requested fantasy books that month, I'd really have nothing much to contribute because I never read them.
Wow, this seems complicated. Is my explanation making any sense?

message 23: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Montgomery | 5 comments It makes perfect sense. The other group that I belong to does something like that but instead they make it so that whoever picks for you chooses from your to-read list. And then you choose for them. They have a sign up every month so that they make sure you are paired with someone. It is also a great way to get some recommendations.

I have truly meant to keep this group very active. You can only invite people to play along but if they don't it messes with things, lol. Unfortunately, I am going through some very serious issues on top of which my family of four has no income due to the shutdown so I haven't been as active as I was. Hoping to pick things back up as soon as I can. This is a fun challenge.
